This is why a lot of young people don't fish. They can't stay off their phones:D

Gotta say, I'm not feeling so hot about the Mississippi State game anymore. I know they're losing Fitz, Simmons, and Sweat, but they've got pretty good depth at QB and along the DL. Keytaon Thompson looks every bit as legit as Nick Fitzgerald, and IMO he's a more electric runner.

I think going chalk means we go 7-5, losses to UF, UGA, Bama, State, and Mizzou.

Granted, we went far from chalk last year, and I still think we're in for some possibly surprising progress in 2019.
They may have depth at QB but I am not sure they have anyone proven, yet. By the time we play them, their starter may be proven. It will be a tough game, no doubt.

More on the Florida match up:

Last year’s game was primarily decided by our turning the ball over 6 times. In first downs we outpaced Florida 18-14. Granted our turnovers gave them a lot of short fields but they still ended up punting 7 times to our 3. Both teams were 4 for 4 in the redzone. On 3rd downs we were 8 of 18; they were 3 for 11. In total yards they had a small edge at 387-364. We held the ball for over 34 minutes on offense to their approximate 25. If we don’t turn the ball over that would have been a much better game and that was with our rookies (#113 returning production) against their veterans (#21 returning production).

We gave them 24 points last year off of our turnovers plus a safety. They had one fumble and we turned it into a field goal.

This is a new year and this year we should see a different game.
I didn't realize that about first downs, punts and yards. With all the turnovers it seemed like we couldn't do anything.

Not a Cowboy fan, but I’m from Jackson and got to be acquainted with one of my all time favs! Too Tall!View attachment 197298
Back in the 70’s, if I saw anything I recognized as Tennessee as their school and they got my rooting interest. Learned to hate all the other schools in the Volunteer state during my teen years in the 80’s.

Smart coaching by Mullen. Rush JG early get two quick TO's & scores. Silenced the crowd, plus he knew Butch's guys would quit and sure enough, the game was essentially over at that point.

I feel like that about “ little brothers “ Vandy, Middle, and Tiger High. But I do still pull for the “stepchildren” TSU, Martin, ETSU, and Tech.......as long as they ain’t playing The Peay!

I have a real good friend who is a State alum, and he said last year’s defense was the best in their prigram’s history.

I get that they will still have a good offense, but they lost a lot on defense. 6 of top 8 in the DL, maybe one LB, and several in the secondary. It’s still a winnable game.

Winnable sure but i don’t think it’s any better than 50-50

My advice is when you are young marry a stripper because of course then you are thinking with the wrong head, then experience everything that can go wrong with a marriage...get a divorce, take a few years to have fun and find yourself, then find your soulmate and use what you have learned to have a happy life.

Worked for me.
Sounds about like my life...first marriage was 13 years of fun for awhile crazy to a wild girl that ended in hellish disaster..My second is going on 20 years, and as close to heaven as this world can get...plus my wife is truly an angel..I will never know what I have ever done to be so blessed.

They did lose a lot. Last year they started the season ranked 8th in the country in returning production (#19 on offense and #22 on defense); This year they'll start off at #92, #81 on offense and #90 on defense. They do have a top 25 roster from a talent perspective and the development program Mehlen left behind was I think pretty solid but they're no Alabama or Georgia. With their talent level they need experience to even the playing field or to give themselves an edge.

It is possible that this could be a sloppy game for us what with our victory in the swamp and coming off of the emotional high of our upset win over Georgia the week before. I'm not sure we'll have acquired enough maturity by then to keep our feet on the ground and our head out of the clouds. jmo.
Liked for random use of "Mehlan" 😉

I've seen it discussed quite a bit where some posters have their top 5 or so wishlist for OL/DL etc....

Not sure I've seen that for wide receivers, which is a huge position of need this next class and a position that we are throwing offers out left and right.

I'm assuming we take around 4 this cycle, based off of losing Byrd, Johnson, Juaun Jennings, and Calloway - and then rolling into the '20 season with Palmer and Murphy as seniors. Outside of Ramel and Tillman, we don't have much waiting in the wings (am I missing someone?)

That said... have any of you started ranking your WR? It's obviously early, but assume we sign 4-5 guys.... who would you want? Extra credit given for a list of realistic names/people we've had traction with (i.e. you lame if you just go to 247 and list four 5 star guys).

A realistic WR class for me, that I'd love would be.......

1. Rakim Jarrett (seemed to love it here. seems like he's communicating with Bailey)
2. Mike Wyman (big on the Vols per @griddie, although showing UNC tons of love on twitter)
3. EJ Williams (loves Ansley, said recent UT visit was one of the best, seems to be vibing with the Vols now)
4. Dee Beckwith (listed as an ATH but I think he ends up as a move around, do everything WR)

I realize this is a fairly ambitious list, but we have a perfect storm alignment.

Great recruiters - Check
Great facilities - Check
Team on the rise - Check
Early PT opportunities - Check
Stud blue chip QB already locked up and actively recruiting for the class - Check
Young OL you can sell to offensive guys as being able to build around - Check

It's this thing where you have no problem with another dude bangin your wife..

So we have some good friends that are into that. We straight up told them, that’s cool, y’all do what you do, just keep it out of our circle, and they have. To each is own, but not for us!
Happily married to my best friend for 15 years this fall, and we have 3 great kids!!
