I don’t think they will unless the AA forces them too. But, who knows.

That's the thing. The NCAA is not going to force anything this year. The more you do now, the more you can perhaps possibly avoid getting hit down the road. With the NCAA's inconstancies, maybe Alleva should have grown a pair and "rode it out."

Has anyone ever voluntarily vacated wins while a season was in progress, to get out ahead of the NCAA? I mean Louisville and Syracuse and Ohio State and UCF and Mizzou and I'm sure others have all vacated wins in recent memory. But has anyone ever said you know what, let's go ahead and serve our postseason ban now and have it affect the players who were directly involved? The whole situation is just nuts, and couldn't have been timed any worse for LSU.

Here's another thought:

The University of Memphis has beat out LSU for several basketball recruits over the past months and will probably secure T. Watford as well. Am I to believe that they are going to play at Memphis for free while passing up getting several hundred thousand (the league minimum) from LSU?

It happened in football a few years ago, but I cannot remember who it was. The thing with Javonte Smart is that he is a 4th-6th rate player on this team. If he's getting paid, you know those other guys are getting compensation, too.

The LSU athletic department is really up against it. They will probably already have to vacate these wins anyway, but keeping him only does damage to the future, while also giving you your best chance at a title in over a decade. Another thing is, there will be more info coming out from Dawkins' camp and you want to avoid anymore embarrassment.
