Lol @ Beatles being overrated. That just shows complete ignorance of what they were doing and what was happening with pop/rock music at that time. No one outside of Brian Wilson was even remotely on the same level as them musically or artistically in the mid-1960s.

I get that they aren't everyone's favorite band, but to call them overrated is ludicrous. The Lennon/McCartney songwriting partnership will never be equaled again in music. It's astounding that two songwriting geniuses were in the same band at the same time, with a third excellent songwriter (Harrison) contributing in their later days well.
Psssh... best songwriters? @bignewt says that they’ve got nothing on Tay Tay

JMO.....Overrated.....ONLY because they are a concensus #1. Def Top 5!

Furthermore, ***a*** top 5. Not ***my*** top 5.

I have not, but I will. Thanks!
if you're willing to go for a deep dive, I'd recommend starting with the "Blueprints for Armageddon" series. Its a 6 part 18 hr history on WWI and how that war was a definitive change in warfare from all previous wars, along with how it laid the groundwork for WWII. Its absolutely incredible how it brings the story together. If you like history there's no way you won't dig it!

Lebron is making James harden look like a good defender this year.

LeBron is about to hit the panic button on his career. I mean, he's not really showing any signs of slowing down, but he's going to hit the wall big time in the next 3-4 years. His time to get another ring is running out.

His World War I series was incredible. If you travel a lot or have time to listen to podcasts, you can't go wrong with Carlin.

31,000 Tennesseans fought for the Union, but 1 out of every 2 East Tennesseans voted against secession. After the vote, East Tennessee talked about secession with a capital in Greeneville. I like to think East Tennesseans saw the real power dynamic that was working them over in the South: the slave aristocracy had created a pyramid with them on top. There wasn't much social mobility or opportunity for financial success in the reality of an economy based almost entirely on slavery.
I will definitely give the WWI a listen. I went and saw the They Shall Not Grow Old film and it was amazing. Those guys were another level of tough.

The South was clearly desperately grabbing hold of a dying method to a changing economy. Along with the morality dilemma (that wasn't going away), Slavery would have died eventually with soon to be invented mechanic systems, that drastically reduced the labor requirements of farming. No way to know for sure, but my guess is it would have dissipated naturally by the 1880-1890s. In 1830, it took 3 labor hours per 1 bushel of grain. By 1890, that had changed to 1 labor hour per 2 bushels of grain. That is a 600% increase in labor efficiency. Cotton however was still more labor intensive, until the cotton picker was invented (1940's), so who knows. Glad we are 150+ years removed from that now.

Good question, it has been silent on Solomon and Gibbs both. I’m surprised ther has not been more chatter on the board regarding the two.

Well, there have been more important things to talk about on here like biscuits, booze, beer, bands, and basketball... damn, did I just do that??

Either way, I sure hope Solomon can get cleared, we need him a bad way... Gibbs would be gravy at this point...

If slavery were still financially viable, it would have survived had people not dismantled it for moral reasons. See migrant workers or human trafficking for proof.
