I really hate the fact that St. Mary’s has turned into a complete joke of a program so the one semi legitimate conference game the Zags used to have has now been reduced to another exhibition. They’ve obviously beefed up the non conference since they first became that original “Cinderella” but they know they just never have to even sweat a drop from January til the tournament.

I agree, BYU has been a pretty decent test in the past but they suck this year too.

lol he has ALREADY proven you wrong, bro. We were the number 1 team in the nation for 4 weeks. He is literally doing things that have never been done in our hoops history.

If he doesn’t make it to the Final 4 it will be disappointing for sure, but anyone who says this season was a failure will need crazy pills. He is a very good coach and we couldn’t have done better. I mean we are looking at back to back SEC reg season titles.

The hire is already a massive success regardless of what happens. We couldn’t even get coaches to return our calls a few years ago.

I didn’t say it would be a failure if we don’t make the Final Four. An Elite Eight would be good too. And he’s done a better job than I originally thought.

My original thoughts on the hire was I didn’t like it because I didn’t know if he would recruit at a high enough level and felt the hire didn’t have a ton of upside. But I said UT would consistently be in the tourney just that I thought that would be it and figured a lot of losses on the first weekend. I didn’t doubt we would make tournament and I think I even said some top 25 teams.

I just still have questions on his ability to get deep in the tournament. But he’s doing a fantastic job.

Yup. And I got to give it to Barnes. He completely changed as a man and a coach which most coaches his age (and in general) don’t. Even if he doesn’t get us to a Final Four in his career Tennessee will be a great job when he leaves.

Was excited when we hired him because, while I don’t think he’s a national championship coach, I thought he would fit in well with the program. And knowing the expectations here aren’t like they are at Texas, he might be rejuvenated without having to work with the rope around his neck.

He’s exceeded my expectations but, I’m scared of this team losing in the Sweet 16 or something and the fanbase starts to turn on him a bit.
