The SEC uses the same pool of officials. They choose who to contract. So, yes, the conference has control over officials.
I didn’t say they have no control over refs. They’re “controlled” by Mark Whitehead. That doesn’t make them conference refs

Respect for Cal not making excuses. Also, despite his one technical tantrum, he's head and shoulders above the crybabies from LSU and Ole Miss. Those 2 are undisputed champs.

Someone stated in the basketball forum that it was a smart coaching move because after the tech he started getting all of the calls his way when they were down 14.i found that statement very interesting.ill bring the comment over here one sec....

After he took the T, Kentucky got practically all the calls, game was called extremely close on his end. FTs are the best way to make a comeback. He tried. It was a good coaching move even though it didn’t work.

Most of those seasoned coaches are intentionally getting the T. They are working the refs and trying to inspire their team.

Only thing I regret today is not going back to where I watched the first matchup. Had to sit through BB fanboys roaring and missed out on revenge today.

ESPN just said Tennessee doesnt have the strength of schedule to be a 1 seed at the end of regular season

Have no doubt. Refs are so easily emotionally swayed by feelings. Home crowd, coaches, and the worst - "makeup calls". They should go through psychological training.

I was impressed though by the refs at Ole Miss. The crowd was absolutely ballistic at every call and I thought for sure the refs would tank like they did at LSU. They withheld it pretty well though. The same can't be said for the game at Rupp. It was disgusting and I am one that typically hates ref bashing. I just looked at my table and said "my god Kentucky is being so nice to us today! Only 3 fouls all half, what a nice bunch" ffs
