Why Stevenson Left Bama For TN

Wasn't lashing out.....just have read so much on here and know what's coming. And it's just hilarious to think that Saban doesn't have a day-to-day relationship with his players.
It may not be of the same nature as CJP's---but those 5* studs keep signing with Bama.

CJP hires Stevenson, a long-time personal coaching friend away from Bama---and the "fishing" expeditions for "dirt" on Saban have already began.
In case you haven't noticed, that is already the "tone" of this thread.

Glad to see Stevenson shut any of that nonsense down.

I just want to BEAT SABAN while he's still on top of the pile.

GO VOLS!
Where to begin. Like you, I really want to beat Saban when he is at his best, and I hope Pruitt can pull that off. Nothing would be healthier for college football than for CJP, Smart, Malzahn, and Mullin to be able to get their share of wins against the Tide. On the other hand, if you think Bama gets 5* studs and is #1 in recruiting every year because Saban has a great personality and a good day to day relationship with his players, I've got some beachfront property to sell you in South Knoxville.

Believe me, that machine in the great state of Alabubba has been around a long time and is very well oiled. I'm not saying Saban cheats, but I'll bet you somebody (alumni) did early on in his tenure. Once the ball gets rolling, the players want to come there. Lots of exposure, lots of winning, lots of extra benefits playing for the best gets you. When your team wins championships, more opportunities are opened for you on the next level.

It's tough to break that cycle. It's slow go. OSU, Clemson, and others are making inroads. Maybe GA, FLA, TN, and others can do the same in the SEC. I don't hate Saban, but anything CJP can do to chip away at his dynasty is cool with me.

Let me splain it to you amigo. I've been around Saban numerous times. He's a supreme prick. Everyone is on pins and needles around him because they're afraid they will piss the SOB off and get screamed at. Not many people who know the guy like to be around him.
Chillax Lyle ! Nicky will yank that 35k a year and you will have to move out of the nicest doublewide in Tuscaloosa.

Thanks for the insight, Mrs. Saban.

I will never understand the Saban-Hate. I want to beat BAMA in the worst possible way. I've been a true UT fan since 1979.
Saban has done something at BAMA that probably won't be matched in our lifetimes.
He's done it with a virtual coaching carousel. He's done it with LAME KITTEN for goodness' sake.
He will continue to win because he and his staff DEMAND commitment, determination, maximum effort, and excellence from his players.

A guy like that just AIN'T gonna be popular with everyone.

If you actually read the article, Stevenson said that he had a great working relationship with Saban--and flat out SHUT DOWN any nonsense
about telling stories concerning his former boss.

By the way--there are plenty of stories told from those dipstick Uga fans trying to paint CJP in a very bad light, too.

Why can't we just be happy this dude is here and leave the Saban-bashing to those mouth-breathing Gators, Tiggers, and Puppies?

GO VOLS!

Probably due to the usual attitudinal culprit. That darn, "You got something I want and you won't let me have it." The UT used to be the had-er and other SEC schools were the wanters. They hated us then too.

The hate for Saban starts with his record vs the Vols and grows due to his interaction with the media and his sideline outbursts.

I tend to admire coaches who have a disdain for reporters. Popovich is the king of that.

You probably should have waited until someone bashed Saban before going into full protective lash out mode. Jmo.

Beat me to it. "I ain't lashing out" Lol.

I'm trying to figure out this "coach worship" thing. Is it acceptable as long as its not a Tennessee coach? I know its a no-no to say anything about Mullen too.

It's crazy. Everyone here acknowledges Saban/Mullen are great coaches but even the thought that they have 1 single character flaw and here we go..

I didn't bash Saban but coaching for rivals is reason enough if I chose. I'm a Tennessee fan, I don't give a **** about their coaches or defending them.

The only negative thought that comes to my mind about your post, is when you speak about the demand on staff. That being Butch Jones.

Wait.... why didn't we hate on Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, Mike Shula, or Joe Kines? Oh......right! Because they haven't stomped a mud-hole in our collective asses, year in and year out, for 12 years. Say what you will. Saban's record speaks for itself. I hate that he beats us, every year, and that UT vs Bama is not even a watchable game, at this point. At some point, they will not even air the game on national television, if we do not get competitive. Saban is a badass coach. CJP, quite possibly, could be just as good, in time. Hate Bama....yes. Hate Saban.......no. Nothing but respect. At least, until he gets caught, doing something illegal. lol.
When Bama circles the UT game, on the calendar, again, some day, we have reached a good level of respect, or Bama has fallen. Right now, they still laugh at us.

Or possibly when you are a d-coordinator you have roughly 40 kids, 3 position coaches, approx 40 moms and sadly a good many less dads. 1 side of the ball or approx 40% of the game on your mind. As a head coach you 85 kids, 8 position coaches, the media ( saban doesn’t allow assistants to speak to the media) 100% of the game and all the parents, boosters and politics to deal with. Honestly, the head coach just can’t have personal relationships!

Many, many CEO's will almost go out of their way to not make personal relationships with employees. Too many bad things can come from this "singling out" as it is perceived by other employees. It goes back to the saying "it's lonely at the top".

Jim Harbaugh hasn't stomped anything of mine and I think he's a weirdo. I could give tons of examples but here's the bottom line..
MOST here are capable of respecting a job well done and still not liking something about a person.
How about those that aren't capable of doing both, stick with full blown admiration.
Those that are capable of 2 things, post their thoughts also.

Hint, they're going to with or without the permission of the rival police.

Hate to disagree- my mom and sabans wife are tight as Louisiana ticks. The ****er couldn’t be a nicer, more pleasant person privately.
At work, he’s an ass- just like general Norm. Or Patton. Or Dwight. You want a machine to run perfectly, you take no prisoners. Anyone who can’t appreciate that, sorry. His job isn’t to make anyone happy - he is paid to win period. Proof =pudding.
That said, I hate bama and their fans with all of my heart.

So you're saying that your mother and Saban's wife see each other regularly? That seems to be kind of far-fetched, Imo. Also, what is a Louisiana tick? LOL

I respect what Pruitt is trying to do for Tennessee.

He’s recruiting well and hiring the best coaches in the country.

If he’s successful, that means his stock is going to continue to go up.

Pruitt loves Bama, admit it. If Bama comes calling, you can bet he’d take the job. But I don’t think Pruitt will be their first choice.
