You think Jeter was ever in play for free agency? In my prior post, I said build your core through your farm system and fill remaining spots with smart free agent signings. And if you spend big? Do it for your own free agents.

I don’t like Adams either, but as often as I saw the team talking to him, I feel like he’s one of the few left that I’m fine to see assigned to UT games moving forward. Seems to be some respect there.

It’s called common sense. Some folks have it. I think you’d be a pretty good dad. Advice that always stuck with me - they’re barbarians when they’re born. It’s your job to civilize them. Operative words - “your job”. Being a dad is the best “job” I’ve ever had, and I’m confident that past a certain age (varies depending on the kid) folks wouldn’t consider any of my kiddos a barbarian. As of 1158 on Thursday, I say mission accomplished and bring it on Friday.

I was responding to the other guy, old pal. A-Rod put up numbers, and helped bring a World Series. Would have liked more, but oh well.

No, Jeter was never gonna play anywhere else. I’m all for building your core via the farm. It’s definitely worked in the past. So has the FA route (Reggie, A-Rod)

Yank’s system is depleted of position players right now, they’re all recently up with the big club (Judge, Sanchez, Gleyber, Andujar). But we’re loaded now with electric arms throughout the system. Just need a few to pan out.

I’m looking forward to the Players getting their way in a couple years, and a guaranteed 50-55% of the Revenue.

That happens? Yankee payroll gonna push $350 Million 😳

A-Rod did not BRING championships (they already had 3 and had to wait to win one with him sucking in the postseason) and Reggie Jackson in the 70’s is a stretch in dynamics. THOSE Yankees teams also had a core of homegrown talent and that previous long stretch of Yankees futility was a result of going too hog heavy on FA’s and wasn’t set straight until Steinbrenner had to step back over the Dave Winfield fiasco. Michael built that Jeter led dynasty with The Boss meddling. As is dumping $300 mil plus out to an outside player and expecting a championship leader just hasn’t worked. You can make them a captain but that won’t make them a captain to the rest who toiled in the minors waiting their turn. On your money point, since Congress stuck their nose in over PED’s, the Union doesn’t have an automatic win every time the two sides go to the table.

Key words - “helped” bring A championship (singular).

Just to be clear, I was not advocating shelling out for Harper or Machado. I’m with you in principle, rather see them pay and retain Judge, Sanchez, & Gleyber.

The Players are gonna get more money, one way or another.

Yankees are pushing $700M per year in Revenue. We can afford a little more burn 😉

Not going to beat this into the dirt, but I think the Yankees win that last World Series with or without Rodriguez...jmo. Players are already getting mo money so I expect that to continue, but it’ll never be as much as their union wants. Back to the original premise of this off-topic before the Yankees yanked it, the final judgment of how the Braves do this rebuild is IF they keep what they rebuilt or if we’re the NL version of the A’s.

I’d probably agree on the ‘09 Series win, but it certainly didn’t hurt having him in the lineup.
