The Atlanta Braves Thread

It sort of makes sense for Minnesota, in that they more or less traded a decent veteran for a younger version of himself. Cheaper and age-wise fits their rebuild timeline better. As long as they don’t care about, you know, winning.
I don't know if he'll be all that much cheaper. He's a RFA and I think he'll get decent money with his 'potential.'

Him and Ovi are the only players to have 10 or more PP goals the last 5 seasons

No doubt he's a still a big body who doesn't mind planting his ass in the crease. And he's got pretty good hands down there to bang home rebounds, redirects, etc. As a skater, though, it's probably about over. Didn't know that Nashville was having such PP issues; in that case then it's worth it just for that. At least as long as Poile doesn't get carried away and sign him to a long term deal.

100% nervous we may get stuck with him in his worst years.

Probably a legitimate risk because the fans are gonna love him. He plays hard and is a huge ass hole -- and I say that admiringly. He'll be an instant fan favorite just like he was in Philly. But he tore something in his groin or his pelvis or something like that awhile back and it doesn't look like he's ever going to be the same. If you could get him at a reasonable price then I would absolutely want him on my team for a few more years but you've gotta figure someone is going to open up the wallet for Wayne Simmonds, Thirty Goal Scorer even though that dude is probably never coming back.

He's only scored 30 twice and is 2 season removed from his last. He's obviously on the decline. I'd be fine with a Mike Fisher type deal.

I’m not gonna pretend to even know if he’s a great coach or will be or what not but I do enjoy watching the pitching staff
Yeah, I have no gauge of coaching in baseball - college baseball especially.

All I know is he seems to be recruit well and he seems super intelligent when SportsTalk has him on throughout the week.

I’m trying to invest more time watching this baseball team.
