One of the players currently training at XPE leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft is Kyle Phillips, a hybrid defensive lineman from the University of Tennessee who is agile, athletic and extremely quick.

NFL teams are split as to whether they like him more lining up inside or outside along the defensive line. His frame and athleticism could possibly even allow for him to line up as a 3-4 outside linebacker. While his position at the next level remains a mystery, one thing is for certain. His speed is sure to grab the attention of talent evaluators come pro day on March 14th.

Thanks mostly to the Defensive Mastermind, Botch Jones. Kyle came up big, at key moments. He has the tools, the motor, and the work ethic, to be a very disruptive person, on any defense. I wish him the best.

In true Vol fashion, I can see Kyle being all pro I. 2 years Max and setting some sort of sack record. Meanwhile back on the hill, 5-7.

Actually, I hope so. KP is a solid young man and really worked hard for us. Once injuries cleared he was a big contributor.

Hopefully he gets drafted. With Butch, his development was very bad. This will hurt his draft status

What about Sapp? What are his chances?

Someone obviously must have gave him a somewhat favorable draft grade for him to leave early....unless he is just a bone head.

He played for an awful coach. He's not the only player whose talent was wasted by Jones.

If you have exceptional speed or are very large, your college performance doesn't really matter
Example: McKenzie didn't play well but his size & potential got him on an NFL roster.
Example: McCullers was drafted due to his size & potential not his college performance
Example: Leonard Scott was with Steelers due to his speed not college performance
Phillips can make an NFL roster & take up a roster spot for 5 season's and make a good living.

To a casual watcher, it is kind of hard to tell which is which anymore. Like the difference between an Hback and a fullback is that and Hback never gets handed the ball whereas a fullback seldom got handed the ball.

Justin Smith was a complete stud for the 49ers. He made a lot of big impact plays himself while also absorbing a lot of blockers so Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks could get into the backfield as well

Perhaps Justin Coleman and Matt Simms were the biggest surprises of all.

Kyle is an example of all the things that are right with TN football. We will miss his leadership and play. I think that his injuries really played a role in his first couple of years and held him back. I wish him the best of luck!

Simms is a career back up but he is a mite bit more successful in football than most of us. Jets, Falcons etc.
Christmas 2017, I drove to Dallas from Nashville to see Cowgirls vs Seattle. In first minute of game, Coleman ran a pick 6 back. In the end, that TD was the difference in the game score.
Wife has a bucket list of touring all NFL stadiums. Been to games in Canton, Nashville, Dallas, New Orleans, Giants, Pittsburgh & Indy.
Sept. Planning on heading to Buffalo to watch game & see Niagara Falls again

I am not an NFL evaluator but the only chance Sapp has is to contribute on special teams until he can improve enough to play NFL linebacker.
Jumper was invited to camp with Saints & didn't make it. Not sure if Sapp can do,it either
