now THAT is a devoted athletic administration
I think many of you would be surprised how much support he still has in the state. This is going to get much uglier before it's all done. I hate to see it but it is going to get really ugly. This kind of reminds me of the situation in Arkansas with Nolan richardson.

Agreed. Outside this board, which is obviously the extreme "fire Fulmer" crowd, I think there's a large percentage of UT fans than are somewhat indifferent to his status. The folks that you see wearing the orange sweatpants, orange shirt, and orange hats every day of the week, think he's there man. There's some fans in between but it'll take then2 or 3 years of 5-7 years to start complaining.
Beef,
What would have to happen this year to make you say "enough is enough, it is time Phil bowed out"? I am curious what your limits would be.

I also have to disagree with you. I work with people who have UTK shrines in thier offices with thier UTK diplomas right next to the framed prints of Neyland Stadium, etc. To a man/woman they all either say they want a change or they think it will happen. Every UTK fan that I have spoken with face to face since Saturday says it's time for a change, and some of those folks were still in Phillip's corner last week. The only place I have heard the opinion that change is not needed is on the Internet. I do agree with Beef that this can get as ugly as Phillip wants to make it. If the Vols lose to AU, UGA and Bama I think he's gone but it is going to be expensive and painful.Agreed. I think it's a beautiful scenario. Either Fulmer turns it around or he exposes himself for the greedy, pious, and self serving man he always has been. That's a win/win if I ever saw one. This is going to get much uglier before it's all done. I hate to see it but it is going to get really ugly.

The school will survive. Fulmer's phony reputation as a standup guy won't. That's the beauty. I hope he fights it to the point he's about as fondly remembered as Jerry Green.I dont see it that way. I dont want to see my school go through what it appears it's about to. You can enjoy it all you want.
I hope I'm wrong but it looks like it will get very ugly.

I'm not the one who has made a cottage industry out of spewing how much I "love" UT and convincing people that all I want is for UT is to be successful. He is. Now, people will get to see him for what he really is. No different than any other coaching mercenary. I like it.Do you mean by stand up guy being shown to be false by taking the buy out? If so then I have to say I would hold the school to the contract as well. I think you too would take the five mill as well.
that can't be binding in a buyout scenario. This is a point that I've heard made multiple times on the Basilio show the past two days. In pursuing the contract he received, Fulmer made this a results oriented issue. Not to say it shouldn't have been results oriented in the first place.
