#15 in ESPN's 2019 FPI Power Rankings?

Even considering the criteria for this list it’s way too high for us.

  • Team performance over the past four seasons (most emphasis on last season) lol
  • Returning starters at quarterback, on offense overall and on defense LOL
  • Whether a team has a returning head coach we do
  • Recruiting rankings over the past four seasons ok I guess

I agree. I will be thrilled if we finish in the top 25 but my gut is this season is about rebuilding the trenches and getting the fundamentals down. I can't wait to smack a few people down though. My best friend is a Georgia fan who loves to tell the joke that at the last UGA/UT game a Tennessee fan blew an air horn and the UGA team went to the locker room thinking it was halftime. Three plays later Tennessee punts. It is getting old.

Bout right were our SEC recruiting ranking has been the last few years. Goes to show that we need to move up in the overall conference recruiting rankings.

LSU is getting some love and I am fine with that. Wish they could destroy the West. 15 seems high for us, I think they jumped the gun by about a season but hope I am wrong.

The notation on Tennessee:

"And if we look at perhaps the most surprising inclusion -- Tennessee -- it's easy to see why the Volunteers have flown up our board. Tennessee is one of just three FBS schools to return 10 starters on offense (and it brings back 17 overall), including quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, who posted a solid QBR of 67.4 last season. Even though Tennessee struggled on offense overall last season, teams that bring back that much talent tend to undergo significant improvement from one year to the next. The Vols also rank highly in recruiting over the past four years."

Ugh.........How does Bama get #7?
Has anyone seen their kicker?

Bama kicker doesnt get much practice. "dont need no stinkin 3 points".

Also, I am surprised at being #15. I know it is hard for me and probably the rest of VN to have an objective look at where the team is at after the last few years of cycling promise then disappointment and despair. Could it be that others can begin to see what we are afraid to hope?

Yea....I honestly didn't research Bama kicker. I just remember him missing several when I did watch them. I kinda jumped to a conclusion from the past couple yrs as well.

I'm not sure about#15 either. I know that talk is cheap, but I do love the attitude these freshman and too-be sophomores seem to have. It looks like there is a real change of culture around the staff and players. I hope it translates to the field in '19.

This was what i was thinking was the reason. Lots of teams in the sec are losing qbs and others this year to the draft. We didn't send any and only had a handful of seniors actually play last year so it makes sense for us to get a plus for returning starters even if our returning starters might not be top 15 quality.

ok. I was wrong.
I'm not saying that...

For perspective, Cimaglia was 10 of 13 with a long of 45.
Best in the SEC, LSU's Cole Tracy was 29 of 33 with a long of 54.
Mizzou's Tucker McCann was 24 of 33 with a long of 57.
Mississippi's Luke Logan was 22 of 27 with a long of 40.
TAMU's Seth Small was 20 of 28 with a long of 52.
UGA's Clark Kent (Rodrigo Blankenship) was 19 of 23 with a long of 53.
Arky's Conner Limpet was 19 of 24 with a long of 55.
UF's Evan McPherson was 17 of 19 with a long of 48.

I ain't if you recall my *cough--cough--cough* game by game predictions a few months back. I really think we're going to sneak by some folks this coming season. They won't figure it out until a bit past mid-season. Then it'll be, "GASP! The orange is expunging the stink!"
