Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston are loaded. Milwaukee might be the best team not named GSW

Miami and even Chicago has some young talent. Washington had talent but injuries killed their chances.

Knicks will be legit next year with KD

The Knicks have 0 talent on their roster right now. Maybe they'll get lucky and win the Zion sweepstakes and then KD might have a reason to go there. Otherwise, they'll get a decent prospect in an underwhelming draft and continue being the Knicks, I'm afraid.

It’s not real basketball. Give it your star and let him score. I am enjoying our team this year because they share the basketball.

The only reason I really ever watch NBA is because Memphis has a team. The Grizzlies developed a different identity, and Marc and Mike are real good dudes. Not really interested in watching a 140-130 game. JMO.
We're just going to disagree about that is and isn't real basketball. The NBA is light years ahead of college ball. Our team is a really good college team and I'm enjoying their success like everyone else here is, but I can't say I find it entertaining basketball most of the time. The one caveat is that we do play pretty "fun" basketball when we're at our peak - just wouldn't say it's a result of the system we run or the way our coaches want to play.

Speaking of football - I'm toying around with a defensive depth chart based on who we "expect" to be on our roster this year. Feel free to chime in with changes you would make to this setup. Obviously we want to get our best athletes of the field as much as possible. I think this is the entire defensive roster. (Green highlight was HS five star, blue highlight was four star). I left Crosby on the OL for now. At one time in the 247 composite ratings tracker McCollough was ranked as the 22nd best player in the country for the '19 class. That and his being an EE leads me to think he has a good shot at getting the start opposite Warrior, that is unless our Head Coach has an aversion to starting freshmen in the secondary.

If Solomon’s eligible, I see him STARTING at DE instead of Emerson who would be a better fit at backing up Gooden. Also Kirkland may start the beginning of the season but won’t by the end. Also have the feeling that Roman Harrison will at least be in the two deep.

Sure. Just a differing opinion. But our team absolutely plays based on the system they have been taught. You can’t share the ball that much if you don’t have a system in place. It’s coaching.

I just never found it entertaining to let James Hardin play one on one ball and shoot 25 free throws. The NBA is almost WWE. Good for the people who enjoy it.

In all seriousness, what kind of subsidizing is going on with the WNBA? There’s no way that League has stayed in business by popularity alone. Don’t believe me? Name 5 people in your inner circle that follow the League. I’ll wait

I don't know what to make of the DL this year.

Gooden is proven IMO.. Not a world beater/unblockable, but will be serviceable to good at the very least.

I've got really high hopes for Savion Williams. Dude has the measurables and seems determined. He knows he's got the opportunity to make the immediate impact, and at least judging by the few social media postings circulated here, he's my odds-on favorite to secure a spot.

Emerson is hopefully fully healthy and conditioned after his RS year. There's some hesitation with him being a Butch guy (who was still accepted into CJP's class) but that's a little overblown by the fans and the fans only. No telling if he starts, but he should still play valuable time. May be rusty starting out the season, but I've got my fingers crossed that he'll be a key cog by mid-October.

We still have Darrell Taylor, who showed elite flashes in two games last year and kinda faded into the background at other times. Hopefully he can use the continuity of coaching, film room, and conditioning and wind up having a big impact on more than just two games this year.

Middleton seems like he'll be a depth guy this year and will be depended on more next year and moving forward, sort of like Jordan Allen. And I'm glad Allen took his name out of the portal, but that doesn't do wonders for my confidence that he can be a difference maker here. I hope he proves me wrong.

There are other names-- Mincey, Butler, Deandre Johnson-- that I remember hearing in game action, but can't recall how impactful they were in the moment. They all had nice plays at times, but I don't know if that balances out the learning curves they faced.

I've used "hope" a lot in this post, and that's telling of where we are without a whole lot of proven commodities. There will be a learning curve, and I'm glad we have our first three games of the season as manageable as they are. Another "hope"-- hopefully our LB corps (specifically Bituli, Ignont, and DKJr) can be reliable enough and make the leap to hide some deficiencies of an inexperienced DL.

I agree w u on. Harden.. Hate watching him, hes an unbelievable talent but he gets way too many fouls called against whoever is guarding him.. He initiates the contact but gets every call..
Then again it could be that I'm a Warrior fan and hate the Rockets..

NBA is a joke, almost unwatchable imo, stars can mug whoever they want and don't get called. Don't get me started on steps. I can't stand the game.

The RPI is a complete joke:

#1 6 loss Kansas

#3 Houston (not the Rockets)

#9 Tennessee

Definitely has flaws. You can play a tough schedule with all tough games on the road, lose, and still have a decent RPI. It has hurt us that GTech, WF, and WV aren’t good. We should move just by playing UK and LSU.

More on the offensive line and being able to run the ball. In 2015 when McElwain took over the Gators his first mission was to find enough bodies to man the offensive line. That year the Gator rushing attack amassed a whopping 3.48 yards per carry leading to a 14th place finish in the SEC. Mac’s second year, the year we beat them, their rushing attack improved to 13th place with 3.69 yards per carry. In his 3rd and final year, the rushing attack improved to 10th place at 4.30 yards per carry. Last year, Mehlen’s first, their ground game improved to 4th place in the conference at 5.27 yards per rush.

Guess what:
Who’s gone:
Tackles Martez Ivey and Jawaan Taylor, guards Fred Johnson and Tyler Jordan and tackle/guard Kavaris Harkless. This position group has been hit harder by departures than any other. The Gators are losing four of their starting five. Those four starters — Ivey, Taylor, Johnson and Jordan — have been starting games since their true freshman season. That was four years ago for Ivey, Johnson and Jordan and three for Taylor. The four combined to start 145 games. They were the heart of an offensive line that was a big disappointment in 2017, but eventually became a team strength in 2018 under new offensive line coach John Hevesy.

As we learned with the James gang in the early Dooley years, it’s not so much about coaching, it’s arguably more about giving 18 year old boys time to grow into 21 year old men because that’s who they are often fighting on the other side of the line of scrimmage. We may be just a tiny bit ahead of the Gators in rebuilding our offensive line and given that normally between us and them, the team that wins the rushing stat wins the game, I'm calling it now. We will upset the Gators in the swamp on the 21st of September 2019. Fitz, don't let me down.
