5-7 would be the minimum record it would take to fire Fulmer. If he's .500 or better, he'll survive and then blame (spin) the season on Colquitt being suspended for half the season, new qb, new offense.

How in the heck can you call Peterson and offensive genius? Because he beat an overrated OK team in the Fiesta bowl? With Hawkins former players? Well, in his defense he did draw up some magical plays against wyoming and north dakota.

Petersen might need more seasoning, to see if he can recruit and win with his own recruits. I'd go after an established, big name head coach with a track record. With UT's money, facilities, tradition and fan base, they can go after anyone in the nation.

Dan Hawkins won four straight WAC titles. His worst records were 8-4 in 2001 and 9-4 in 2005. Other than those two, he only ever lost one game a year. He built Boise State. That doesn't mean Petersen is not a good coach, but he inherited quite a lot.

In fact, I would be warmer to hiring Hawkins over Petersen.

all that matters is that he WINS games and that is something that we cant do.He has also proven that he can beat the best,heck he just beat Oregon,GUARANTEE we wouldnt even come close to winning that game!

A great coach is a coach that can take a doormat of a team and make them competetive. Peterson has only taken a good team to begin with and maintained their success. I wouldn't call that a great coach. Besides if he's so smart and so great why isn't he up for more Top tier jobs. Just because Urban has had success doesn't mean Peterson will. Not a good hire IMO. Good coach just not for UT.

he is a GREAT hire for UT.Plus the same thing happened with Fulmer he was just an interim coach,he inherited johnny majors' recruits so you guys dont have anything to back up your comments.I have facts unlike you and volfan mike.

Yeah and look where that got us. Fulmer got a UT program on an upswing. As soon as the great recruits weren't coming his lack of true coaching ability shined through. See fulmer post 2001.

UT doesn't need to be hiring any "up and comers." At UT, they can hire the top coaches in the country. How about Gary Pinkel at Missouri--he's turned that program around and has them in the top 10, with a Heisman type QB.

What are these facts you keep talking about? Besides i never said i thought Fulmer was a good hire when he got hired. I never said Peterson wasn't a good coach. I just don't see him being able to recruit against the big boys of the SEC. Just because you can win in the Mountain West or WAC doesn't mean you're a great coach. Truth is you have no facts other than you just like him.
