TrumPutinGate

Nobody is going around indicting people on “Russia /collusion”
Collusion isn't a crime. See the Trump campaign is in a pickle right now with the Manafort troubles of giving polling data from the Trump Campaign to a Russia Intelligence operative. The Trump campaign might or might not have known about it. I'm sure they are already prepared to deny any knowledge of such a thing and leave Manafort holding the bag. Manafort is dangerously close to espionage charges among other possible charges related to his "work". There is also the Gates connection between the campaign and Manafort and he is cooperating with Mueller.

Actually only Manafort is in a pickle for his own actions. And his latest issues occurred long after he left the campaign. This is not going to lead back to the Trump campaign. But keep on fapping!

Agree It's manafort that screwed himself. It was always the pardon play for him.

lol giving away polling data is your high crime here?

“And the polls say” omg! What a traitor!

Polling data? Explain to me why this is so vital to our national interests?
It does not have to be "vital" to our national interest but it completely fits the definition of espionage -
the practice of spying or of using spies, typically by governments to obtain political and military information.

If it's internal polling data collected by a campaign and someone on the campaign gives some to a foreign entity it's stretching to call that espionage. It's not government data that is being shared.

We can just say it was theirs and was giving it back.

Wrong. If Trump says it was OK to give the information it's collusion, If not it's espionage. Don't tie yourself in knots to justify everything is on the up and up and perfectly fine. That would be a stretch.

If you work for a company and give some of the market research they collected to another company - that's "espionage"?

It's not a matter of being on the up and up; it's a matter of what's the correct description of the event since that is critical in linking it to criminal statutes.

Yes if the company didn't authorize it.

I’m glad we both agree it’s completely harmless. Do you consider the hiring of Steele to fit that definition of espionage?

Also do you consider the public release of political polls to be an act of espionage?

Yes if the company didn't authorize it.

Is this your definition of espionage or have you seen somewhere this is the case?

In doing some research on Economic Espionage (since this isn't government data we are talking about) it appears it only applies to "Trade Secrets" which have a specific definition and requirements to meet (which internal polling data likely does not meet). Further, the owner of the "trade secrets" has to be the one claiming the offense. So even if this polling data met "trade secret" standards, Team Trump would have to press charges to make this a Economic Espionage claim.

I'd say theft, embezzlement or unauthorized distribution is the more accurate description but those don't sound a serious as "espionage".

Team Trump was the victim of unauthorized distribution by Manafort since it was their information

He is a spy he just happens to be working for the good guys by providing raw intelligence. There should be a distinction in your mind between Allies, and Enemies.
