Unfortunately I am willing to bet the N word is used at every stadium in this country.

Now should it be used as a legitimate reason to circumvent the rules? Imo it shouldn't.

Sure it does, because sports attracts some ****** people. And if it was some rando hillybilly, i'm sure nothing would have been done about it. but this was a UGA baseball player, a fellow student athlete. I think there's probably more to it, but THAT'S the public-facing part of it, the tip of the iceberg, and its awful. why do you care if he plays immediately or not, anyway?

Yes. And if a fellow student athlete is going to feel comfortable enough to call you a n*gger in your own stadium, its probably symptomatic of a ****** situation we're not privy to. I hate when know-nothings reduce **** like this to "the race card". Its ********.

Love and respect you, Geaux but I disagree with you on this one. I raised my kids in Bogart, Georgia and (don't @ me) worked there for a while in the 90's. I didn't see any rampant racism there and those who know me, know I am sensitive to that. In a stadium of $80K +, there will be a few POS. I truly don't think that student athlete's use of the word I don't say is indicative of rampant racism on campus.

PS - who's to say a baseball player can't be a redneck?

You seem to be coming at me for the wrong reasons.
As soon a he declared I posted he'd be immediate eligible because of this.

I just think the NCAA sucks balls and I don't think it would have mattered if it was "some red neck". I'd expect a good lawyer to use social media post and message boards going forward to argue the "well being of the student athlete" was in jeopardy.

I take exception to the use of "the race card". i don't care one way or another about whether he plays or not, but reducing how the kid may or may not feel about being called that by a uga athlete to "the race card" is just supremely disrespectful, and totally unneeded.

Yes granting immediate eligibility is one of the reasons they suck🙄

Were you the one that said Dormady shouldn’t be allowed to transfer again?

Now should it be used as a legitimate reason to circumvent the rules? Imo it shouldn't in a case like Fields.

Now perhaps there is another such case it would be warranted but let's be completely clear. We know exactly why Fields left Georgia
By another scholarship athlete? I doubt it.

You’re my homeboy and all, but here’s my take...

The N word is a horrible word that no white person (or anyone really) should use.

That said, I can’t buy that African Americans find this word to be so offensive and horrible when it’s a constant in their vernacular. And I’m sorry but not pronouncing the r isn’t an excuse for why it’s not only okay but embraced.
