We went from 121st to 55th in yards per attempt (YPA), not total yardage...This is a really tough question, and allow me to interrupt the baseball discussion forum for a football-related post.
I think we see slight regression statistically. Part of the reason, I think, we saw the improvement we did last year was because we played teams that were more pass happy overall. We didn't play a bunch of spread teams, no, but WVU exposed our biggest weakness in Week 1, and that was our secondary depth and ability of our LBs to cover in the passing game. Teams passed more on us this year and didn't run as much. I think that'll change next year, though I think we'll be better at stopping the pass than this year. But we still don't have an elite pass rush, so that will be interesting to watch.
TLDR: I think teams will run the ball more against us this year, and I think the lack of experience up front will mean a slight regression, but nothing huge.
Let it go...nothing to talk about on here till spring training..At least take that crap to the off topic thread in this forum.
I just hope we get rid of all the puny lackadaisical losers before their sorry arse attitude can infect any newcomers..I wish they would all leave or get with the program..I think the Vols will be better this year. The team will be young, but more talented on both sides of the ball. The returning players will be better conditioned and more disciplined after a year and a half with this staff, and the older players will be pushed to achieve at a higher level by aggressive young players behind them. That will make the entire team more competitive.
A lack of leadership and accountability has hurt the Vols since Dobbs, Barnett, JRM, etc. left. IMO, we're getting some vocal FR leaders who want to win and won't tolerate the lackadaisical attitude and effort that has held the team back. No reason not to be optimistic and lots of reasons to expect more out of a team that's capable of achieving it.
Chance Hall giving up football per Pruitt. Man injuries ravaged that kids career.
Guys, I know I'm a major homer, but I believe Pruitt is the guy. Yesterday's class, competing with Bama for one of the very best players in the country, landing guys like Crouch, Wright, Morris, Keyton and others over literally every other team in the country coming off of 5-7 is something not a lot of guys can do. I know we all thought we had something with Butch, but this feels different. He isn't a hype man, he isn't a salesman, he's a dang football coach. And when I listen to this interview and he talks about 5-7, it just feels like this is a guy who's going to take us to where we belong. I fully believe that Pruitt will have us playing for a National Championship. I'm bought in.
oh my
Aight guys who is the big fish out of Memphis for 2020 ? I heard a comment from Fulmer today on 3HL 104.5 out of Nashville If I’m not reading to much into it I think we may have a commit from Memphis 2020. They was asking him what he could do and not do in recruiting. He was saying he can text , but he doesn’t always do it.
He then said “like the other day we got a commit out of Memphis that I had been texting. I’m not sure if I had anything to do with it or not, but I had text message conversation with him “
To my knowledge we haven’t received anything publicly out of Memphis since Eric Gray. Now didn’t one of our board insiders say something yesterday about a new commit for 2020 that’s not went public yet ?
Thoughts?

I mean, how do we lose more than 5? 7-5 should be the absolute floor next year.
