I have been a VASF member for 10 years and I hate to lose my line number position but I am tired of this crap we try to call a football team. First we get embarrassed by a Pac 10 team that could be the worst team in the conference. Next we get embarrassed at home again by Florida. Now you have to think we had the worst recruiting class in 22 years at Tennesee. I don't see how it could be possible over the next at least three years to be in any kind of contention for anything except maybe the Liberty bowl and if we get really lucky maybe the Peach bowl. I know I am tired of paying my money to a terrible coaching staff and I know Hamilton did the best basketball coaching recruit ever with Bruce Pearl but he is an idiot if after three Offensive coordinators he still thinks it is an offensive coordinator problem and not a head coaching problem. Do you agree with me or am I just being sour after getting embarrassed yet again?

After this game I am going to ask for a refund for the money I have contributed this year and not give back until we have another reputable season that i dont have to go around friends and get laughed out of the room.

As sad as it has been, me and my family have stayed home this year... Despite us still having season tickets.... I'm sure we are not renewing this year at this point in time.... So, to all of those who get our tickets, honestly, I hope they turn it around for you.... It was a good 20 year run for us.... Until recently, that is....

It's all about the attitude and expectations. They expect us to continue to give money and boost Phil's income while putting together an increasing inferior program. We have slowly declined since we won the NC, and actually have been one of the most underacheiving teams as far as talent in the country since 1990. The "donations" have always increased, the benefits have slimmed, the seats have gotten smaller, and we have no say. I'm not contributing anything again until I see results.

The money i have spent in the last few years is wasted. They will get no more funds from me till Fulmer is GONE.

See, this thread shows the entire problem with our "Fans".

You don't donate to the VASF to pay the Coach. Your money isn't wasted because the team doesn't win enough for YOUR tastes.

You DONATE your money so that kids can go to school. Your money pays for Scholarships, hence the Volunteer Athletic SCHOLARSHIP Fund.

Stopping the donations is a nice way to screw the players and the team. IF you hate the coach, great for you. But not giving the University the money it needs to give scholarships out is NOT going to do anything but punish the kids.

It's amazing to me that grown adults don't know this. It's amazing to me that grown adults think booing is a respectable thing to do.

This is a ludicrous post.

So because you disagree with me, I'm naive?

That's brilliant. I'm not naive, I'm right. VASF dollars go to the Students, not the coach. Booing is ignorant.

I guess I worded it wrong when I said it "won't do anything but punish the kids", but it certainly punishes the kids in all sports, and in smaller ones long before it reaches the football team and it's head coach.

The disagreement isn't the problem. The problem is that you have no earthly idea what VASF funds are nor what they're used for.

According to Crompton, we should probably just keep the money to ourselves, since they don't play for anyone but themselves....

That's nice, I'm glad to see all our hard earned dollars that help pay for their education, being respected....

There is no disagreement. You are flat out ignorant on what the VASF does.

Well, since you know sooooooo much more than me, educate us on what the VASF does. Tell me line by line where the money goes.

I'm waiting....................................

You're just barking up the wrong tree. Nobody owes you any response, except to tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about.

The word scholarship is simply window dressing to make the fund sound like it has something to do with the scholar-athlete concept. Do your own homework and figure out what the fund is all about.

I hate to punish the kids, but they have the option of playing at lots of other schools who offer them scholarships.
I don't think it is fair to point fingers at the VASF donors that no longer want to put their hard earned dollars into a program that is declining when the big boosters and athletic director doesn't want to do anything about it.
If we as VASF donors want to stop donating money, that is our right and there is nothing wrong with it.
If things don't change this year, I am done. I will not be giving donations and getting tickets next year either. I almost stopped after last year, but I wanted to give it another chance with the new coaches and all. Obviously I made a poor decision.

LOL

Way to wiggle out. I don't need you telling me what I believe. If you think you know where all the money goes, please tell us. I would LOVE to know.

STILL WAITING.........

It's common sense

Saying the VASF is redistributed to schollies only is ignorant. I promise you I've read a lot more than you and seen firsthand where the money goes.

How can you justify paying a coach millions? Because they sell out the stadium. VASF money stops and the pocketbooks take a hurt.

I didn't say anything about paying the coach and how it's fair or not.

I simply said, taking money away from the SCHOLARSHIP FUND will hurt kids more than it will hurt anyone else, certainly more than it will hurt Coach Fulmer.

How that isn't a TRUTH to you is beyond me.
