Wright >> Peteterson
Crouch >> Carvin/DWA
Gray >> Banks

At least based on rankings, and at this point in their college careers that's really all we have anyway. Don't forget we added Solomon/Gibbs as well. This class is much better than last year.
i do think people are getting hung up too much on these last couple spots. sure, it definitely sucks to think we could wind up not getting neither HT nor Russell.

but the hay is in the barn for this class basically, and the only thing getting those two would do would be to enhance the class.

it doesn't get "worse" if they don't come here.

i played pickup & scrimmaged guys on our HS team. We had one guy sign with NC State and couple play at smaller schools. Guys were good.

Many years later, playing pickup at ETSU - got to see Calvin play pickup with other current ETSU players. There is a huge difference, i cannot overestimate, big difference in those guys and dudes in HS. Just crazy to see guys that big, and that fast jump out of the gym.

Yves is a big time player...Not sure id say that.

BTW, Calvin still dunked on the kids.
My brother in law played baseball at ETSU when Calvin and those guys were at ETSU. I can't remember their names, but they had one guy that grew like six inches between his senior year in HS and his freshman year at ETSU (edit: I looked it up. It is Greg Dennis). (IN before TWSS). He said Calvin was an unbelievable athlete and so was Mister Jennings. Jennings was only like 5' 7" but was a fantastic PG. Super quick and super strong.

It's not a given that we're done either. Atlanta_Vol just said we're still in the thick of it with To'oto'o, and every time I see an article about Pickens we're at least mentioned there. Sure it's not probable, but we were saying the same things about Eboigbe/Bogle and apparently they were much closer to picking us than we thought. Granted they didn't anyway, but stranger things have happened.

Recruiting is a strange game. A lot can happen over the next few days.

I won't count any game as an automatic loss. Anything can happen. Winning 'em all till they don't!
GBO!
Speaking of this, why are people saying it will help us if we lose a couple along the way? I think this team is very mentally tough and knows they have to bring it every night. I don't think they necessarily need a lesson in humility that a loss would bring. I think the streak helps with our confidence. You could see it against both Bama and Vandy. It looked like they were confident they were going to find a way to win, and they did.

well, that's still the point...it can only get better if any of those guys want in.

Vols rank #2 nationally, #1 in SEC in returning production. Usually a solid indicator of improvement from year to year.

And we still may be so bad in the trenches that all the returning production doesn’t matter.

We’ve gotta get significantly better on the OL and DL before we even sniff 9 wins. DL has the potential this year, but is too full of unknowns to expect too much from. OL should be better, but they could improve threefold and still just be mediocre.

here's the thing though....the OL was dreadful last season....but many times the reason for that is they weren't even blocking the right people or had no clue who to block or when. lot's of mental issues/communication issues up front on the OL last season.

you fix that, just that, and you at least probably eliminate the game changing disasterous type plays we experienced in several games last year....they may still get beat physically....that's one thing.

but let defenders go untouched to the QB or the RB in the backfield......and create devestating plays against us....

that alone could be worth a game or two. get an infusion of talent from the young guys and hope they pick up on things pretty quickly, and who knows.

but, it is a question until it's not, agreed. it jusut may not be AS BIG a question as we might think.

on the DL, it's just ?'s cause we haven't seen any real production from who's coming back. and there's still hope Aubrey Solomon can play in 19.....so we'll see how that develops. but definitely a question mark heading in.

I've been unable to follow closely for a week or two, so I feel I'm totally out of the loop as to who I'm supposed to be watching here for the home stretch. How are we predicting that we fill out our last few spots?

I saw that To'oto'o is sadly trending away from us, after we thought we were in a really good position for him a week ago. I hope Wright is still considered a near-lock. Who else looks likely to jump aboard?

[edit] And now I just saw AV's update regarding To'oto'o to UT maybe not quite as dead as previously thought.

Fitz & company about to really change this team. A lotta these EE we got are grown ass men. People sleep on competition in the weight room. Carvin, JJ, Riley, Tatum, Hall, Morris, Chris A, Jackson...bring in an OC who knows how to play to the strengths of his roster...2nd year with same OL, HC, & S&C team...I think the line play will be vastly improved.

I expect us to even have a few games where we see us imposing our will, and Chaney gonna let the big dogs eat baby!!!!

Not sure he's up to the task. Plus we had that clever BBB, they'd have BBN. Not sure they could pull that off.

UAB is dead last. That should make that match up easier for us. If we had played them in 2018, I think it could have gone either way. Looks like we should be taking a step forward in 2019 while they take a step back. Mizzou, Vandy, UK aren’t looking great there either.

Here is a breakdown for all of our opponents next year. Last four games are very inexperienced teams. Miss State also loses a ton.

I think the theory that you learn more from a loss is bull s***. You learn a lot about your team when they have to fight like Vandy and Bama. To think it would be better for our team to lose a game or two, to me, is just crazy. Would you rather win and get better or lose and get better because it doesn't matter?
