TrumPutinGate

Wow, CNN must be a super duper investigative news source as they were the only news outlet with the presence of mind to be there.

Right?

It's not like the possibility, even probability, of an arrest of Stone was a secret. It had been talked about openly, including by Stone, for a year or so. CNN tracked the unusual sequence of events and sent a team down in case it was happening that Friday. It was.

Really not that surprising.

Was he such a threat they needed a tactical team for it?

As I said, the warrant for NY said that the government had reason to worry that Stone would destroy evidence. Whatever led them to make that representation would cause them to send a team, yes. SOP.

lol

You work around cops. Tactical teams aren't exactly neat creatures.

Stone has been publicly saying that he would be indicted for several weeks, if not months. I would think that he would have destroyed any evidence he was going to destroy before now. Wouldn't you?

You would think the same of Cohen, Wouldn't you?

Surveillance may have indicated he was using electronic encryption to communicate with someone.. Counter intelligence/National Security, and whatnot.

Maybe the laid off agents just had a bunch of built-up frustration, and volunteered for the raid just to let off some steam.

I lean toward the former.

No, but weighed against the possibility of something going wrong, the wiser choice is to overdo it, rather than approach unprepared.

Possible. But that alone would cause him problems.

And perhaps they had reason to believe he has done so. That would explain the representation in the warrants.

I doubt they were furloughed. Or not getting paid.

I hadn’t thought about it this way before but it actually worked out well for Cohen. All that stuff is evidence against other people too. Probably gave him some leverage.
It's not like a "dirty trickster" wouldn't keep leveraging materials on friend and foe. The probability that he has such things is high considering he has been accused of trying to obtain leveraging materials.

Stone is a sleaze ball and has been for 40 years. He takes great pride in playing as dirty as possible. Anybody who has been around DC for a long time is acutely aware of the type of person with whom they are dealing.

You must still believe in Santy Claus and the Toof Fairy.
