I'm not sure I like drafts, salary caps, or scholarship limits (or amateurism.) I think athletes should be able to get their fair market value. But I'm a super capitalist, so...
This opinion is so insanely stupid to me..and I don't think you're stupid..

Do you really not understand why that chaos is ultimately bad for literally everyone?

Here’s my hot take. I want to win the SEC regular season title. I don’t give a crap about the SECT and wouldn’t care if we lost early. I think conference tourneys are pointless for the top teams and only serves as a way for someone to get hurt and ruin our tournament run. Come @ me.

We haven’t won it since 1979. I want that banner too.

No I agree. They are silly. Why have 2 champs? Only purpose is to keep every single team's tournament hopes alive till the very last game. Good strategy by ncaa bball (opposed to football where half of teams give up by November).

More money to be made with conference tourneys.

Should eliminate the tourneys and selection a week earlier. This would allow fans more time to plan and money to follow their teams to NCAA 1st/2nd round and regionals.

Missed most of today in here.
Did we get any confirmation on the rumors floated this AM about arrests and recruiting infractions at our rivals?

Would honestly be surprised if we have to. Toots and Russell are like 50/50 shots and I've yet to hear we lead for Robinson. Wright seems the only sure get atm. That puts us at 22, 23 with Harris. We have a little room. Though I damn well hope Toots is part of it...freakin Saban...

Russell is straight up in Big Orange country. If we want him, we will get him.

Yep, capitalism and sports competition don’t go hand in hand. I am a capitalist but realize that the only way you can have fair competition and parity is by setting regulations. The NFL does it the best way, and it works pretty well for them. Just because I live in Memphis or Buffalo shouldn’t mean I can’t win because of money. Literally, one will never win a title in the NBA, and the other went to 4 straight Super Bowls in the NFL.

In literally any other chosen profession an 18 year old could be compensated according to their value. I don't like systems or institutions that restrict that. I'm not sure why this is different specifically when the skillset in question is tied to physical traits that diminish as you grow old. Let these kids make hay while the sun is shining. I'm not particularly worried about the presence of chaos when it's not hurting folks.

Furthermore, with no salary cap some team would pay Lebron 100 million per year and they wouldn't be able to pay Kevin Durant 95 million... the same way the Yankees can't go out and keep signing folks.

Ok...I changed my mind. In your world, only a few players and big money teams make out...everybody else suffers. It hurts everybody in the long run..

I like to at least have some sense of an even playing field, if not then why the hell should anybody ever watch? Fair competition and your model can't co-exist.

I cannot express to you how much I hate your opinion. Pro sports make these dudes millionaires..I will not make a million in my whole lifetime, and I have beat my body to a pulp in my firmer field of labor just as bad as any of them. They are not being hurt.

You mean like the warriors, pats and bama?

Ok, now imagine if in your particular field your earnings were limited because all companies in your industry have an agreed upon maximum that they can pay people who do your job.

How much more would that tick you off?

Regarding competition. Baseball has no salary cap:

On average the team with the sixth highest payroll wins the World Series. And this is in a league where the bottom quarter of teams are constantly in rebuilding (salary-dumping) mode. That's enough parity for me. 14 distinct MLB teams have won a championship since 1992. In the NFL there have been 15 distinct Super Bowl winners. A salary cap means that one more team won.

Supply and demand. How many Tom Brady’s, Lebron James, JJ Watts are there? Very very very few. In addition they make their teams owners hundreds of millions of dollar
