I have always found Bob Huggins to be a very interesting person and coach, and obviously very successful. Yesterday, I found his statement that "my team has made a liar of me" about their defense to be an intriguing statement. I just wonder what everyone's impression is of him nowadays. Has he mellowed? Do you find him to be a "great coach?" Barnes loves him to death, but has been friends with him forever.
Now honest vol be honest... Do WVA players get 12 years of eligibility cause they are slow learners or did you misremember typing? UT is doing this all wrong... Adminral and Grant will be beasts in another 8-9 years.Roster overhaul. Lost a 12 year starter at pg. made the sweet 16 3 out of last 4 years. Wouldn’t worry about huggie bear at all.
Ouch... you mean Jevon carter? I googled himReal basketball fans will get the javon Carter joke. He seemed to be there for a decade and even looked 40 at that lol
Or Texas A&M
He's had 2 hip replacements and anyone who has someone in their family living with a lot pain will tell you it can change their personality. It becomes a struggle just to get through a normal day, much less coaching at a high level in Div 1. I respect him for hanging in there.I have always found Bob Huggins to be a very interesting person and coach, and obviously very successful. Ill leave this here for you guys to judge lol... I was marshalling a Jimmy V charity golf tournament responsible for "escort security" around the green keeping folks back behind the ropes, quiet, getting guys from carts to the green, etc... Huggins was playing with Mike Tirico and some other athlete and they were on their 2 nd hole at 9ish in the AM. Huggins (then the Cinncy coach) comes up towards the green from the cart and as I lift the rope and go up towards the green a lady hollers from the $1M home behind the green at Huggins. I don't even remember what she said but it was something like "We're Bearcats and We love you". This house is probably a good 50 yrds behind the green and she was LOUD. He starts laughing and seeing they are setting up a Keg, snacks and tables on their deck for a days festivities he ducks under the back green ropes thru the spectators and jogs over to the deck. I am torn at this point about what to do so I follow Huggins and leave Tirico and his lady friend on the green.
He proceeds to ask if they have tapped the keg and they pour him a beer and start taking pictures ( had to go inside for a camera). Meanwhile TIrico is waiting and the group behind them is waiting to hit to the green. Tirico and the other guy go ahead and putt out and wait in the cart for Huggins (with his picked up ball). He spends about 10 minutes up there and they eventually send him away with a travel coffee cup of beer and a plate of food. I was impressed with the fact he spent some time with fans, disappointed in the lack of decorum making all the others wait for him, and well chugging two beers and a roadie at 915AM man u got a problem. Might explain why he has put on a bit of weight but I was thinking about this yesterday watching the game...
Have no idea who won and they were all cheating so much it didn't matter. I remember much more the people I met over the several years I worked the event. I could walk to the course from my home then. This event isn't really a pro am as there were very few PGA golfers that played but there were some really good scratch golfers that were mostly NHL guys. I was more surprised that the man was on the way to three beers before 930 AM but he was a very likable guy and gregarious with fans. I also learned that all the fan hate NCSU, CAROLINA, and DUKE fans have for the other school is generally not held by the players and coaches. Coach K and Jimmy V were very good friends. When Dean Smith was in very declining health and was not in "public" Coach K would visit him or call his secretary to check on him.His action was a little extreme even for that type of "affair". Have you ever watched the Pebble Beach and other types of tourney's like it. The c-lebs carry on like this all the time. (not as much as they did years ago, too much at stake for the pros now days) Wonder if a person watching the play remembers who won. Bet that person remembers "Huggins". By the way do you remember who won??? I really enjoy these types of actions, gives a little life to a serious game that can get tough to watch by the last day of so.
Missouri gives u the St. Louis TV market and to a lesser extent the Kansa City TV market, also. That was the main reason they added them, not academicsTexas A&M makes more sense to me. They are in the Western division. They have a passion for sports that matches up with the SEC. The Texas TV market helps the conference.
Mizzou makes no sense to me. They were put in the Eastern division which makes no sense geographically (WVU would fit better there). Mizzou is like another Vandy with sports - their football field endzone is a pile of rocks. They don't even garner a large TV market (I guess WVU is also weak in that regard). My understanding is they picked Mizzou for academics but they don't fit the SEC very well.
WVU would generate instant rivalries with Kentucky and Tennessee. Volunteers vs. Mountaineers would be fun.
