On the player moves - somebody needs to be a real FB and not an H-back wannabe FB. Chaney uses them on occasion with the power run game. To see Chandler and Gray cutting off a FB block in the hole will be a thing of beauty.
So he was a shorts and T-shirt champion. Also, everyone remember this when we are talking about rankings...these recruiting sites usually rank a lot off of camp performances in shorts and shirts. A lot changes when the pads go on and popping begins. I’ve mentioned this before, but will say it again...I know a coach in middle TN who thinks Reggie Grimes (#1 player in the state for 2020 right now) is a fraud, meaning his abilities that are seen in shorts and T-shirts don’t translate to the field with pads on. He sent me some of his game film, and I can’t say that I disagree with him at this point in time. Now, can things finally click and he translate his abilities to the field with pads on? Sure.He was really good at camps...
That doesn’t always translate
Lawd she so clueless..
Getting the redshirt should really help him. Not expecting a ton from him in the immediate future but should be a quality starter at some point.Hubbs follow up on JJP...
“I didn't say he wasn't dialed in. I want to see how good the guy is. Tons of hype last summer and August. But didn't have a chance to factor in last fall. He's been here 7 months. Curious to seewhat he looks like this spring.”
VQ said last night that the staff is concerned that he may not have internal desire to get better. After showing up so out of shape last year that is concerning
I agree. Ron’s update sounds better. I’ll be curious to see him in the spring. Hopefully that gut is gone! This kid is a killer, a heat seeking missle at LB. we need him to be ready to go.It sounds to me like they're trying to motivate him. He might just need a nudge. I would not freak out just yet. But it is VN, so there are those among us who will start hollering "NEXT!!" right away ( I am not saying that is you, but I am also not concerned yet).
JJ Peterson, Jaquon Blakely (sp?), and Shawn Shamberger all came out of Colquitt Co. and all at times have been tagged for having work ethic issues. I hope that's not a pattern coming out of that program.JJP has progressed slower than hoped. High-potential player with more talent than drive. Gray doesn't have continuity anywhere. He needed the RS year. Hopefully, they'll nail down a spot for him and let him develop. Winter workouts and spring practice will be huge for both.
Ok well that’s totally different than saying the guy doesn’t want to get better. We all have high expectations and are curious to see what kind of player he will be. I’ve honestly been optimistic until this morning. Now, I am again.Hubbs follow up on JJP...

We’ll likely see this spring whether Peterson will be much of a factor for us in 2019.
I know the coaches see him as a guy who has the ability to play all 4 LB spots, but part of me wonders with a kid like home whether he might be better off in one spot and focusing on that.
LB will definitely be one of the most interesting positions to keep an eye on in 2019 (especially if we close with To’oto’o and Russell). We’ve got an interesting mix of experience, young guys with high upside, and a possible wildcard in Banks. Part of me wonders if we may see Bituli get some looks at OLB if some of the younger guys have really good springs.
