Showing respect for players

No Defensive Coordinators are shaking in their boots about having to play against Crompton. That should be all the sign you need as to how Crompton has played thus far.

You realize Crompton was riding the pine just last year while Ainge had a broken hand and a bruised shoulder both on his throwing arm and was still markedly better than Crompton? These aren't my personal opinions... these are the pervailing opinions of professionals in the sport.

Also, a plethora of former QB/commentators have criticized Crompton's play on many occasions. But feel free to blatantly ignore that.

You were also critical of Randy Sanders, weren't you?

How's that working our for you?

Go to ESPN. They've got a new article that addresses our fan base.

Come signing day we'll see if your logic is correct.
Could you point me to it? I'm having a hard time finding it having to wade through such titles as

"Gators maul Vols"
"Another crushing loss for Tennessee's Fulmer"
"Florida comes out and bullies Tennessee"

Not bad actually. They aren't really that good anyways.

You do have to remember that in 2005, Sanders last year, that we were the preseason #2, but lost 6 games, could only manage 19 points a game, and got beat by Vanderbilt.

So, what's your point?

Who cares what ESPN says! They have always been negative toward us rednecks and hillbilles! Booing is a part of sports! Its simply an outward sign of an inward emotion. People are emotionally distraught at our lousy performance, and sometimes a little constructive criticism is needed.

You're showing your desperation by lashing out on things that have no relevance to the conversation.

This is about Crompton's far sub-standard play and the subsequent booing.

Not Randy Sanders.
Not Casey/Rick Clausen.

I sadly think though when we boo and leave games at halftime (mainly the latter), it gives espn more validity though in saying we're rednecks/hillbillies and people will start agreeing with them....like the bags on head people

Point is, you got what you asked for. A change was made. You were soooooo sure that was the right thing to do.

Fans always know best. That's why none of them are qualified to coach pee-wee football.

It was. In 2006, we killed Cal, lost to the national champs by 1 point, beat Alabama, and went to a New Years Day bowl game.

edit: And I do coach pee wee football, by the way.

I honestly didn't think things were too bad under Cutcliffe. We came out flat a couple of times and he abandoned the run... but that seems to be a trend among UT OCs... hmmmm....

You do have the option. Those 10 potential recruits at the game also have the option to not attend a university where the fanbase acts like a bunch of rednecks.

Yeah, it's the fan's fault that recruits don't decide to come here. It's not the complete lack of focus and motivation, and the coaches inability to field a team that looks half-way prepared that keeps recruits from coming here. It is the booing from the fans after the fact that keep them from the Hill. Do you completely ignore logic and reason?

No, this is about you and all the other boo-birds that actually believe you know what's best for the program.

We might just be a bunch of rednecks, but on this one, we do know what's best for the program.

Let's just sack Fulmer and get it over with.

By the way, how many national championships have we had, and who were the coaches?

and that change was David Cutcliffe, which now that we look at it, it was the right thing to do

ESPN article that Vols5150 quoted said:
But can anybody with a good conscience say that this looks like a well-coached, disciplined football team right now?

I can't think of ANYONE that can say yes to that question, can you?

Can I boo at home? Can i tell my neighbor that I am unhappy with the current situation on the hill? Can I write a negative article in my local paper concerning this lack-luster performance on Saturday afternoon? Can I question anything that the coaches do? Must I throw all negativity out the window in fear of driving away potential recruits? How far do influences go, whether negative or positive?

Vols 5150, where do we draw the line?

in college football, it's "what have you done for me lately?" and in the last 10 years, Fulmer has done nothing to boast about
