Peyton / Tee

Wow. Sounds like we all have way too much time. Why are we trying to create friction that is likely not even there. Why not celebrate both qbs as two of the most beloved vfls ever. Should we be happy that tee has come home and will be recruiting on our behalf and that Peyton continues to be a great ambassador for us?

You’re joking right?

As far as college goes, Tee was more of an all around lethal weapon, than Manning was.

Just two different styles, and UT went into a way more balanced game plan, when Tee took over.

No one was going to beat that Nebraska team in 97.

Some posters got it wrong. The issue isn't a Tee vs. Peyton, nor I think ever has been. The issue is how some fans perceive Tee and why. It's those fans problem, not Peyton nor Tee's.

Has anyone seen Peyton come out and say that he fully supports Tee?

You'd think that Peyton would be pumped up.

Does he really need to? I mean, you'd think some things go without saying. Besides, who cares if he does or doesnt? Peyton's not a part of the AD, nor is he on the Tennessee payroll. With all due respect to Peyton, who cares if he does or doesnt support it?

So Pruitt and Fulmer should consult Peyton and get his blessing to make a coaching hire?
Lol, is that what I said?

Do you think it could have meant anything else, or do you just think everyone is stupid?

I don't get this. Was Manning supposed to come back magically for a 5th year to try and get a NC? I think going #1 overall in the draft for the NFL and making millions would have topped anything he did or did not accomplish here. Both of them are VFL's. Always will be. Go Vols!!

You mean that Tee’s offense was more balanced because he couldn’t run a passing attacking as well as Peyton? If so, then I agree.

Not that it matters, but here is my 2 cents worth.

1. CPF ran a wide open attack, with Manning. Spread the field, and let athletes create space, and let Manning distribute. The ground game was good, but not always the identity. CPF used the tools afforded him. Manning was the focus, and sometimes he let the moment overtake him. He had all the tools anyone could ever want. But was never able to pull off a Natty. Not all his fault. His numbers against UF were video game numbers. But no w's.
2. CPF ran a more traditional UT style offense, with Tee Martin, that was more in Coach Fulmer's comfort zone. The O-line and the backs were the strengths, and the identity of this team. Although the receivers were pretty awesome. Tee's passing game took on a different look. It was more downfield, off of play-action. His ability to use his legs helped move the chains, score td's and win the time of possession battle. In turn, that allowed Chavis to unleash HELL on defense. Very similar to Bama, for the last decade. Classic UT football.

Tee was an excellent game manager, and very cooly allowed the game to come to him. Afterall, he had a huge cache of weapons to choose from, a great defense, and probably the best o-line in the country.
He could've done more. But he was a selfless team player, and a quiet leader. I honestly never saw him get flustered or overly upset.

They were teammates during some of the good times, and Peyton should make a public (Support) press release for Tee.

If they've had issues (That I don't know of) in the past, it's time to bury the hatchet.

edit:
Tee should not just be any ole assistant to Peyton in my opinion.

Jump to conclusions much? Geez.

I will add this, down 42-9, Tee Martin entered the game, against Nebraska. Most of the Black Shirts were still in the game, as the Huskers were trying to make a statement. Tee Martin cooly led the Vols offense down the field, workman like, and scored a TD. Then punched it in on the 2pt conversion, if memory serves me. So.......there is that.
