You don't know that - it's what you hope. Unless Mueller discussed this with you prior to authorizing the statement you are just speculating about what they would have done if "x".

Velo posted some stuff pointing to problems with the story. The authors of the story contradicted each other WRT whether they saw anything or were just told this. Mueller came out and said testimony and documents claims are not accurate.

But believe what you want to believe.

SDNY were the ones that charged Cohen with lying to Congress not the special counsel’s office.

who cares about the story - LLLLLOOOOOOLLLLLL - you've been defending the story for the last couple hours and telling us Mueller's statement doesn't really tell us anything about the veracity of the story; the story that doesn't matter.

I think it's a big "if" that Cohen testifies as you are hoping.

He has volunteered to testify on that date. That doesn't sound like an "if" to me.

But Mueller referred Cohen down to them. So no one here knows if theres a requirement to share info between SDNY and SCO. I presume there is since SCO is the "lead" on the larger investigation.

Seems unlikely Mueller wouldn't want to know everything SDNY new of Cohen vis Trump and Russians. I can see why he wouldn't care about Stormy Daniels stuff.

If Cohen testifies then he has zero use to Mueller on Trump/Russia or anything else on Trump.

I seriously doubt that is going to happen. Mueller has thrown all his resources against an open ended search for a crime...any crime. And he hasn’t dug up anything.

Trump has a big mouth. He cannot stop himself from talking...mostly about himself. I don’t think Trump could keep the lid on his crimes.

As entertaining as this is, st the end of the day, it’s a damned shame. The power of the the government is being used to try to destroy an elected politician....because other people don’t like him. The story is that simple. Will be a stain on the history of the country. This is third world thuggery here.

Michael Isikoff just made a good point on "Rachel Maddow" about the specifics of what Cohen pleaded guilty to and that it involved "lying to Congress in order to be consistent with the President's public messaging" and how that doesn't indicate that Cohen needed Trump to direct him to lie... that he could have just lied to Congress through his own initiative. It's entirely possible that the BuzzFeed story is hogwash.

But what does that really get us? If Trump didn't direct Cohen to lie? That hardly wraps up the investigation. The fact remains that Donald Trump lied to the American people in speeches about his involvement in the Trump Tower Moscow Project throughout the 2016 campaign. That is not a crime (he wasn't under oath) but it's not good either.

of course not - no one has claimed otherwise. We just had a fevered day of impeachment bonanza - "we really got him this time".

This one fizzled but the investigation continues. This doesn't exonerate Trump; it torpedoes a story that the Trump must Go crowd got all in a tizzy about.
