I’m not OD or a UT fan, but most coaches see a significant jump in year 2. The systems have been in place a year now and the coach knows his players better. In my opinion Kirby and Pruitt are pretty similar in philosophy and what they excel at, so I think it’s fairly reasonable to say Pruitt should see similar growth in year 2. Obviously the programs were in different situations when each coach started, but I’d be willing to bet Pruitt sees significant improvement in year 2 like Kirby. What is it you feel that we've "gained" that prior to now, puts us in a better position to beat Georgia in 2019?
It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out. Other than outstanding coaching, there’s nothing that can occur between now and season to magically make our O Line better. And if we had that coaching we didn’t seem to use it last year as nothing really changed as the season progressed.
Our D line might get a little better so that's a bright spot. As our DBs were good last year, they just had to stay in coverage for inordinate amounts of time while our big guys got no pressure on the opposing QB.
WR’s were already decent last year, JG can help our O Line by getting better at reading and avoiding blitzes as well as getting the ball out quicker, which is reliant on his speed to go through his reads.
Overall I’d say we lose to the regular suspects (UF,UGA, Bama) will beat all of our OOC teams, and will be in a tossup with the rest of our conference matchups....Though Missouri will be pretty good again next year, so they may need to be lumped in with UF, UGA, and Bama.
I am hoping for 6 -6. Four non conference wins and we steal two SEC games
Florida is a surefire, ironclad, automatic loss for the next 10 years imo....just like the last 30.
We aren't beating Florida with a new DL and most of the OL returning with some true freshmen forced to play.
3-1 is nice and halfway to bowl eligibility.
Smart had a better stable of players when he arrived than did CJP. Keep in mind he had Chubb and Michel and their peers for two seasons. Pruitt's first bunch of recruits were a hodgepodge due to him coming aboard late. I think we really won't know what we have until year three for CJP. This season was certainly mixed results we beat ranked AU & UK teams and lose to Vandy and Mizzou. There was potential mixed with arrrrrgh. 2020 we'll know if he's a keeper or not IMO.I’m not OD or a UT fan, but most coaches see a significant jump in year 2.
