Is the rule basically 10 coaches allowed to go on the road to recruit? There’s literally dozens coaching practice and on game days.

Technically you are only allowed 10 coaches, 5 strength coaches, and 4 grad assistants. Anyone else is labeled as support staff and not allowed to "technically instruct" a player, but it's basically impossible to enforce.

We have some of that... Lilly and Osovet are both coaches without the title. But I agree I am all for bending that rule.

Right, that was always the plan... and it's smart. Most big programs do it to some degree, but Saban is the master. He doubles his coaching staff by hiring to maximize the 20 headset rule. I wish we'd do exactly that.

I think that is what we will end up seeing unfortunately.

I hate to lose Kelly as S/ST coach, and his recruiting; but, if Bama hires him as DC, I can live with it, as that will be two straight hires Saban couldn't come close to replacing Pruitt with. His DC left a lot to be desired at FSU, and their fans HATED!!! him in that role.

Yet, I'd hate losing him in the role he has here.

Poor Maryland thought they could get Fitzgerald from UT and Kelley from UT, but they were wrong.

They couldn't even get former UT coach Butch to come there.

He wouldnt have to manage egos or talent as a position coach . Nor would he have to evaluate who to go after.

Hopefully he coaches Bama’s WRs to use that goofy-ass stance he made our WRs use in 2013 and gets them all injured in blocking and ST drills like he did here.
