If he wants to come here we’ll buy him out. Simonton said on the podcast the buyout would be about 500k. Big deal
Right, but it detracts from the theory that we're luring him away from an unhappy marriage. It doesn't affect his availability, just the perception of how likely the hire is.

Yeah, Simonton also said that he just likely gets a raise. However, Hubbs said that could change if Kirby thinks he’d be fine just promoting coley. Hopefully that’s the case and we get Chaney and Coley ends up terrible

I don't think it changes anything except to us fans and the media really. I would be surprised if Pruitt and Tennessee didn't know these details already. Seems like it would be new info to the public, not to UT.

Maybe I'm wrong. Idk.

Yeah but if its true he signed the extension last year and it may very well have been before the CO-OC thing came about.

The common story was that he had just finished a 3 year contract, which may not be the case. We know better than most how buyouts work, but it certainly changes the geometry, I’d think.

I have googled it and cannot find anywhere that Chaney's contract was extended last year. In fact, there is an article that specifically says Coley, McGee, and Mel Tucker signed new three year deals last year but Chaney, Pittman, and Tucker had previous three year deals.

- Have seen it from mutliple sources including Hyams that his contract runds through the academic year (ending in May 2019). Hyams reiterated today that Chaney he has a $500K buyout and that he and Pruitt talked in December, but he does not know if they have talked since. He also stated that he would not count out Sark, but he thought other three NFL assistants mentioned (Cooter, Kitchens, and the other one's name I can't recall) would likely remain in the NFL. No mention of Lebby. Also he feels a hire will be made by the end of this week.

No, but the reports that his contract are expiring are inaccurate (according to that tweet). Apparently he signed a 3-year contract last offseason.

Ok. So he's just clarifying Chaney's contract not reporting a new contract. That makes sense in terms of constantly hearing about a buyout.
