I guess that’s what I mean. Let’s say he’s the WR coach or the RB coach for two years under Sark. And let’s say he has some variation of a co-OC title.It is if you feel pretty good about him as an OC when you hire him as a position coach. He's not much of safety blanket otherwise if your just hoping he is ready just in case the OC leaves.
If UT hires a good OC that leaves in 2 years they will have opened up the pool a little more when that time comes. I think Tee is a great recruiter and solid position coach. Would be a great addition to the staff. But if what you believe about USC is true, that still leaves questions about his abilities. He needs some credit as an OC to move the needle for me.
So let’s say we have two good offensive years. We’re progressing and scoring points. Maybe not setting the world on fire but moving in the right direction. Then Sark takes a HC job. While I’m sure there would be a search, at that point Tee would get some credit for the offensive improvement. It would not be crazy to give him the reigns.
