Until we’re relevant again, I honestly have lower interest in CFB.
yeah it isn't as fun. On Saturday I sat around with a bunch of GA fans in my wife's family. They mocked me the entire time because the Vols stink right now at football and one bragged about the corner that committed to them on Saturday. But then they could not believe that I didn't root for them in the sugar bowl. Are you kidding? I told them that I hate GA and hope they lose every game they play. It isn't fun watching our rivals have success while we suck.

"how many of my guys can I pick?"

Any time you hire a big time OC/DC this is the hold up always, bank on that. If it's Chaney then he's either feeling out existing staff (don't forget a lot of them are also in San Antonio right now too) and deciding if he would like to make any changes and then Pruitt & Co. are negotiating who they would allow him to replace.

"None."

Pruitt insisted on longer-term contracts for staff stability. So he's not going to jettison staffers. OL coach is the one most OCs would want to replace, and that's where Pruitt would be most resistant.

I think Chaney is most definitely a splash hire

Agreed.

I think that's a bigger deal when you're hiring a guy that currently still has a job.

And that could be why Pruitt hasnt found an OC he wont let them bring anybody with them

Yea I’m not cheering for Georgia or any other rival. No matter what.

So is it Chaney or not? We had TOS smoke last week, and we got UGA boards with more over the weekend. You got our insiders and oother board mods saying meh. Anyone spotted the actual flames?

If Tee replaces DJ what will your feelings be
Seems like a wash but Tee’s a VFL so I’ll take him.

Still interesting we are reaching out to Tee, IIRC he seemed bitter for not being considered for HC here. Hope it all works out and he can come back. He’d be an asset for Pruitt.

I could see it being Lebby as well, of the names I've seen/heard he seems the most likely to just come in to OC and not want/require any other staff changes.

Sark/Chaney both having OC experience like they have I would assume both are at least talking about guys they'd like to bring along....Lebby getting a legit big jump promotion is probably going to make it work with current staff.

I wouldn’t say it’s predetermined but seems logical that Tee is your safety blanket.

I’m not as down on Tee as everyone else is as an offensive coordinator. I wouldn’t hire him in that position this season but I also don’t think the USC offense was a result of anything he was doing. That’s been Clay Heltons offense since he got there and they have struggled as a result.
It is if you feel pretty good about him as an OC when you hire him as a position coach. He's not much of safety blanket otherwise if your just hoping he is ready just in case the OC leaves.

If UT hires a good OC that leaves in 2 years they will have opened up the pool a little more when that time comes. I think Tee is a great recruiter and solid position coach. Would be a great addition to the staff. But if what you believe about USC is true, that still leaves questions about his abilities. He needs some credit as an OC to move the needle for me.

Ok my tea leaves say: Chaney
My reasons are.

Hyams -
One long-time college coach with SEC experience told me Fulmer likes Chaney and Pruitt respects Chaney. How could you not, after what he did at Purdue with Drew Brees and at Tennessee with Tyler Bray and at Arkansas with Brandon Allen and Pitt with Nathan Peterman and Georgia with Jake Fromm.

“Chaney is the best play-caller in the SEC,’’ one source told me.

Of all the potential hirable candidates, I think Chaney has the best resume’.

Chaney would command a salary of at least $1 million a year and he has about a $500,000 buyout at Georgia. But he’d be worth it.

I think one other thing – Pruitt will hire someone within a week.

Another poster on VQ saying a friend inside the program said it’s going to be Cheney and soon. 4years 7.5mil.

He even shared numbers, we’re getting close!
Just checked UGA247 board and quite a few of their posters think Chaney is leaving.
Been a bunch of threads on the Rivals UGA board today about Chaney leaving. Wish rivals members could read other boards like with a 247 membership.

Best case scenario (that could be possible)

-Sark as OC/QB
-Lebby as Passing game coordinator/RB
(only makes like 200k at UCF)
-Tee as WR coach

That would be A++++++++++

Since DJ and Weinke are looking around.

Pruitt could have hired any of these names being tossed around weeks ago... and didn't. And they're all available to take the job immediately... and haven't. So either Pruitt is hesitant, they're hesitant or both sides have reservations. Money's not slowing things down, but something is.
Just spit balling, but if you re pretty sure your gonna be replacing another coach or 2 on that side of the ball he's figuring those changes in as well as to who he can get and what roles they will play with different OCs.
