You don’t need 40 guys in football. I think the premise is that you have to recruit several high level players (preferably one at QB) and then develop the others around them to be solid players. As long as improvement is made, then future recruiting success will come. If we go 7-5 or better next year, 2020 recruiting will go well. The blueprint by Barnes is there; just have to adjust it to football. We aren’t looking to contend for a title next year- that’s when you need 40 blue chip athletes right away.

In football, you need depth. You have to have two deep at every position without falloff when someone comes out. If my math is correct, that's at least 44 guys. I bet Bama goes 3 deep.

If our OC is a solid play caller and leads us to scores, I can live with him not being a good recruiter.

Well, they are now 12-2, and currently ranked #10 in the country. If I'm not mistaken, they are still a young team. They have recruited well.

I'm not saying she is the greatest floor coach - pretty sure she isn't...but if she continues to recruit well, maybe she can out-talent everyone. Also, maybe the players are just not executing like they will with more experience. Today, we had 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores with significant playing time.

They don't care over there. They'd have to pay over $1M to get a top shelf coach. They don't care enough about women's basketball to spend that kind of money. The only way they make a change if there's about 2000 that show up for games and we know that isn't going to happen as Vol fans are so loyal. They're going to lose today to an unranked Missouri team in TBA for the first time ever. They'll never sniff another final four with Holly at the helm.

She’s had a lot of negative firsts. First to lose to Bama. She’s a good recruiter but just can’t ingame coach.

The discussion was about rebuilding, and you have to recruit about 40 elite players to turn things around. I am not talking about playing for a championship right away.

You need some elite guys at certain positions, but you can build and improve with other solid players who develop. We aren’t Alabama and probably won’t be for a while or if at all. Retain players, develop them, improve your record, and more elite players will come.
