I’m under the impression that we’re never going to be consistently in the top 5 in recruiting the way CFB is right now. We may get a class here and there be we will consistently be between 8-15 no matter who the coach is. That is why i preferred someone who schemes outside the box like leach, Mullen, Gundy etc. i think it’s the quicker path to success here. I am encouraged by Pruitt seeming to want to go that way with his recent OC attempts in freeze and yurcich.
Never is a long time. If we can make sure to stay top 15 and get back to consistently winning 8-10 games, then who knows.

Staying in the top 15 with a top 10 class every 2 years or should be enough talent to get back in a NY6 bowl. Start getting back into contention for those types of games and consistently putting guys into the NFL again and it should pay dividends on the recruiting trail.

So basically you think Mullen would’ve gotten a shorter leash despite his vastly better proven track record as a head coach basically Bc he has a different accent and personality than Pruitt?
Leash is always long enough to not hang yourself. Results are always key. Not convinced he approaches 10 wins here but none of this is fact based...just opinions. So no one wins.

I agree. Look no one is going to flat out beat Saban consistently with what he has at bama. So yea as long as we’re in the top 15 and have good coaching we can win 9-10 games here Bc most offenses in the sec are mediocre at best so Pruitt should be able to handle them.

Recruit like Clemson and we’ll be fine

@butchna used a perfect example with Jones. I'll defer to him.

I'll delete my previous post due to poor wording.
And refuse to let you guys change the discussion to justify constantly fawning over a Gator.

Bottom line, 10 wins, Florida, proven coach.
Trading back and forth 11th in recruiting with unproven, 5 wins, Tennessee.
Nothing about that suggests his class here would have been anything short of sad. And definitely doesn't deserve "lol" at people pulling for TN.

Yea i agree. I always looked at it like if he’s winning 8 games a year basically at State... moving to our vastly better recourses and easier side of the division would basically play out to another win on average. Consistently winning 9 games probably means a couple 10-11s and a couple 7 or 8 Win seasons too.

He was Currie’s first choice and Florida’s third (or second FALLBACK). They fired their HC before we did Butch but really had no head start. They started full court pressing Chip Kelly the same time Currie was approaching Gruden, Mullen, Schiano et al. Which is odd because Kelly had no team to get permission...unless ESPN counts. Time frame boils down to we offered Mullen the job and he WAITED for the Gators to get jilted by two candidates and then jilted us. Currie thought we’d buy Schiano and and had no plan C.

Agree with this. Sad state and it points out the incompetence of our administration. Schiano wasn’t showing up on any major programs radar. Maybe a Temple level team but no major program.

Also to have Gruden as one of your top targets. He was never coming here. Be realistic. Might as well put Bellichick on there as well. Kind of like when TN thought they were getting Bill Cowher. When a coach has NFL head coaching options rarely ever does he come to the college ranks.

Very similar to the fact that teams could hire Butch as a head coach for pennies on the dollar with his buyout money. They are like “hard pass...we know that clown isn’t a real coach”

Thank god gruden never came here.

Yeah that’s pretty much the model for our rebuild, IMO. Stay in the top 15, make sure to develop the studs you do land and put them in the NFL, make it so nicer bowl games and win a few big games a year for 3-4 years, and watch the results on some blue chips start to get swayed our way.

Idk if Pruitt’s gonna be the guy to do that for us or not, though. He’s gotta make sure to nail the offensive hire/hires he’s making this year from a fit and production standpoint.

Actually Currie never had Gruden as a target, according to all his emails and texts that got released.

Identical record to Pruitt in his first HC effort and a 6 win effort as recently as two seasons ago.

Win this year and I bet we get a top 5 class in 2020.

If Pruitt gives up control of the offense and gets someone who can be creative then i think he could have a great run here.

If he doesn’t and hires a yes man... then he will he will muschamp.

That’s where i stand on Pruitt.

Yeah, some snakes are hard to keep in captivity. But people do it anyway. And there's no way that's an Elapid. Unless that guy is just a complete moron. No way I would let a venomous snake that close to my hand.

I'm 99 percent sure that's a Colubrid. My money's on an Indigo. However, it could be a King or a Rat snake. Snakes are tricky. Color variations can be deceiving. It's all about the scales when you're trying to ID them.

Snakes are a bit of a hobby of mine. I'm fascinated by the little guys. My Herpetology professor was amazing with them so I picked his brain as much as I could.

Snakes are definitely not my forte, but I do know there are a lot of people out there who's snakes are smarter than their dumbasses

Caimans and tortoises are my tea shop, though.
