The Atlanta Braves

Really like NRZ, especially in that space. I know our research had a price target of $20/share on it at end of Q3 when it was in the $17 range, now I think it’s in the low teens.

I’ve actually been having a lot of discussions about Scott’s specifically because of the cannabas angle but that is an extremely long play idea. If that’s your time frame, I really like it though.

As for Altria, if someone doesn’t have any sort of moral objection to owning it, I’d never recommend against it. Hard to argue against anything that consistently pays that kind of dividend for as long as they have.

Although it’s not an overly exotic approach, I’ve still yet to have anyone prove to me why valuing dividends will ever treat you poorly. I wish people would pay me just for owning other things in my life.

I’m up to 35 stocks in my self managed portfolio and 31 pay dividends. I can’t bring myself around to MO and PM.

My timeframe is as long as it gets. I hope to build enough of a brokerage account through investment and dividend re-investment to live off of and with a little (likely in a trust) managing, my heirs to live off of. So on and so forth.

Even though this is my business I've really only just within the few years started to do the same thing. I spent most of my resources for a long time trying to build up my own 401k, HSA and Declan's 529 plan that I didn't have a lot left over for individual stock selection. Can't ever really say that there is "enough" in those 3 but the balances are now to the point where I'm starting to take a few dollars away and expand my horizons a bit.

My philosophy mirrors yours though for the most part, I prioritize dividends in almost every situation and then will take a few small bets in some of the more speculative areas (like the cannabis stuff) that I think have the chance to hit down the line. If I end up being right then I'm in an even better position, and if I get every single one wrong then I'm not out a whole hell of a lot. Not sure if you ever have the situation to where it makes sense to look at fund investing vs. individual securities, or if you have the ability to have any influence over the funds available to you in your company's 401k, but I'd recommend looking at the WisdomTree ETF family. They have a group of exchange traded funds that track different indexes but instead of spreading the investment over the companies in each index just based off market share, they prioritize them ranked by the level of dividend they pay. They charge a little more than the Vanguard's of the world who just buy the index and hold but, knowing your appreciation for dividends, you might prefer their approach (I know I do).

They drafted Tyus Jones

Third team PG in Minnesota Tyus Jones. Yikes

All right, I'll bite. I look forward to revisiting this with you gentlemen in, say, three years. I hated the trade and I wouldn't have done it but I've actually watched a couple dozen Hawks games this year and I'll be shocked if Young's floor isn't Rondo without the shltty attitude. At the very least the guy is going to be an incandescent passer. I'm still skeptical that Young plus whatever bonus lottery pick they get next year will make up for the trade but there's no way Young is a 3rd team point guard.

Tyus is a starting pg in the league. So is Trae. Was just saying Tyus is currently 3rd pg in Minnesota.
