Tee Martin & Will Friend Co-OC?

This shite is getting ridiculous.... just hire a damn OC Pruitt and get on with it. You guys continue to argue about who it should or shouldn't be and I'll see you in the football forum in April - after our basket vols celebrate their first final four and natty...

Heard Ainge talking about that possibility this morning. Could it work? My initial thought was that I hate the idea of Co-OC’s, but at this point, unless we can get Sark, I think this isn’t an awful idea.
I thought it was ucf's quarterback coach and Tee Martin we're going to be Co offensive coordinators. I would be ok with that.

And he proved he was a great but that was unknown heading into 98. Hes a great position coach but hes not a good OC
Just a question. Not being a smart aleck or anything but how do any of us know if he is or is not a good position coach or offensive coordinator? We don't know what his exact job descriptions have been no matter the title he has held. Heck, we don't even know if the man has ever called the first play as a coach. Now we can look back and say we saw him as a poor, mediocre, good or great QB but that's opinion based on our knowledge of watching him play. The one thing we can say and be sure is that he was the best QB UT had in 1998 or he would not have been on the field.

Tee has turned us down before. You people are going on hiring him because he played here. He is not a good OC.

Probably one of the worst ideas I've heard. You pull an assistant away from the worst area of our team and divide his focus with designing the offense and working with our Oline. And hell just for good measure throw Tee Martin in there?

I'd almost be in support of hiring an OC with additional experience with the Oline to help there instead.

This has to be one of the dumbest threads of all time!!! Ainge like all, wants to stir the pot and make money. That's all. Tee isn't an elite OC, neither is Friend. If Pruitt wants to survive in the ELITE SEC, he better make an elite hire!!!

Butch Jones insulted Tee when he came for interview. Made offer so low that Tee had to say no because Jones wanted Azzani and not Tee. Only reason he asked Tee to come was to satisfy UT admin who were pushing for Tee. From that incident grew the hate and rumors on Tee.

He is another ace recruiter that Pruitt needs badly. Hope it works out..
Could you see a Tee and internal guy promotion possibility? If so is Tee ok going back to position coach?

This makes more and more sense, checks all the boxes as far as a fit plus should have the same or similar terminology of Helton. Great recruiter and if you watched any USC games this year play calling was balenced just not great execution from players... lots of new guys

Glad you’re enjoying it. In regards to making an elite hire, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but if that hasn’t happened in the first 40 days of this search, it isn’t happening. Y’all should understand that by now. At this point, we better pray it’s Sark, or this option won’t seem so bad to you when he has to start interviewing DII QB coaches.
