I’ll always have a soft spot for Chaney. In 2009, his first year in Knoxville, the morning after we whipped UGA with Jonathan Crompton at QB, I went out to breakfast and ended up being seated in the booth next to Chaney with his two girls that were toddlers at the time. He had on a St. Louis Rams t-shirt (where he had just come from) and was reading the KNS while his girls were coloring. He looked as happy as he could be and deservedly so after the way our offense put it on the Dawgs the day before. Just a dad enjoying a morning out with his little girls.

It really hit home that these guys are just normal people who have lives outside of the expectations we fans have of them in their sport. He was probably a hundred pounds lighter back then than he looks to be now, and I hope for his and his family’s sake that he can get that under control. I’d love to get him back in Knoxville so that I can root for his success again instead of against the team for which he coaches.

That’s was my wife’s first game in Neyland, was a good’n!!

I dont think Chaney recruits and i doubt Sark will be too keen on it IF he even considers college again. You want a savage on the recruiting trail you get a hungry young buck as OC.
no disagreement. lebby was the recruiting coordinator at one stopp as well. i think he'd probably be pretty good on the road.

i'm beginning to think Sark likely stays in the NFL. why would he want to go recruiting again if he doesn't have to? unless he just loves it.

and you're probably right about Chaney. probably good on visits to campus. and in homes. but i don't see him being a road warrior anymore.

hm. i keep talking myeself in to and out of these guys.

I’m sure the rest of the SEC hopes we promote the guy who was calling NAIA games in Lakeland, FL 18 months ago
Don't care what the rest of the sec hopes really. Neither is probably gonna get the job but I would 100% rather have lebby than enos. Or any other mentioned name for that matter. He's probably the only name that would disappoint me.

Butch Jones insulted Tee when he came for interview. Made offer so low that Tee had to say no because Jones wanted Azzani and not Tee. Only reason he asked Tee to come was to satisfy UT admin who were pushing for Tee. From that incident grew the hate and rumors on Tee.

He is another ace recruiter that Pruitt needs badly. Hope it works out..
-LWS said this about Tee earlier today

Chaney will get you to 10+ wins but I don’t think he wins you any championships. We need an OC as dynamic as Pruitt is/was on defense. Jmo

But why? He’s amazing with QB’s, produced a really good offense at Arkansas and is known for his unpredictability when calling plays, and just learned a year under Saban revamped offense. How is he any different than Sark?

So recapping the OC search from the sounds of things:

- Talked to Freeze, likely that SEC said no go since he wound up at Liberty instead of anywhere else.

- Talked to Chip Lindsey, who quickly moved on to Kansas so we obviously weren’t interested.

- Interviewed Briles, wasn’t a fit. Went to FSU.

- Interviewed Lebby, never any traction reported and both sides seemed to move on. Could speculate that interview was actually more about digging into Briles’s baggage. Now he’s being mentioned as a potential candidate again?

- Interviewed and offered Yurcich. Spurned last minute when OSU offered him.

- Took break to focus on recruiting and holidays, also thought we had our guy in Yurcich (probably the 95% hire that DM reported).

- Rumored discussions with Sark and Chaney, conflicting reports over whether those were just friendly chats or interviews.

- Supposedly ramped up discussions with candidates, but we really have no idea who those candidates are?

From the AV tidbits, my guess is Fulmer was the “traveler” he mentioned. Probably needed him in town to make the offer to Yurcich. Use of the marshmallow man was due to the Yuricich guy who worked on that scene (no idea if he’s related, but the name is really similar so still close enough to be the point of the hint).

I have no idea who we end up with, but it probably needs to be someone that Pruitt can trust to just lead that entire side of the ball. I personally doubt it will be an inexperienced guy. Not sure how much recruiting prowess will really matter, I don’t think Yurcich is a renowned recruiter.
Sounds about right.

Chaney busted out the QB bootleg and UGA bit on it every single time. It was amazing to watch, like they had never seen such a thing before, guys running open downfield all day. Eric Berry should have broken the INT return record that day, but they called it a fumble recovery instead.
