Are u really ignoring where this spread airraid formation sprung from? If it was the way you claim then colleges and a quarter of the nfl wouldnt be running these concepts and DC's would have figured it out and shut it down.

Leach and Mumme stole some concepts from Lavell Edwards, tweaked them, High school coaches picked up on it, Tony Franklin developed an easy dvd 3 day installation system and marketed it, it exploded in Texas along with 7 on 7 tournaments, experienced players filtered up to the growing number of colleges adopting it, Mix in a little Malzahn, Rich Rod, and RPO... and there you have the evolution of modern football

honestly, i think that'd be a pretty good finish. getting Wright and Moore. i don't think anyone would balk at Russell at this point, and i have always liked Robinson. i think he could be a player.

Jammie Robinson’s senior film is really impressive. Idk anything about the quality of opponent they play, but he is super explosive, punishing tackler, and X factor at kick return. I was blown away.

Not saying that at all. But we let yurcich get away...maybe we could’ve done more maybe not. Pruitt is getting blind faith and the benefit of the doubt which is fine but let’s not pretend that all is fine and this is all part of the Plan.

Let's not pretend that because we have not hired an OC yet that we will not get one that can help us win games, or that we don't have a coach that will succeed. It is not blind faith to wait to see how it will work out without jumping off a cliff because OK hired what appears to be a good DC after several months. And let Yurcich get away? Was he kidnapped?

i don't think anyone could tell you with a straight face that this has gone how they expected it.

but that also doesn't mean that there's just epic failure after epic failure occurring behind the scenes either. stuff happened. some probably unexpectedly. you just keep going forward with whatever plan you had, tweak as necessary, until you accomplish whatever it is you set out to accomplish. i think that's probably what's happening now, given all the vaious conversations we're hearing about now.

I wouldn't call it blind faith to wait to see who he hires before criticizing the hire. Benefit of the doubt maybe. But just because he hasn't hired anyone yet doesn't mean he's doing a bad job with the search. You praised the Oklahoma hire which at this point took a month and a half longer than ours has. Maybe you didn't realize that actually is a really good counter to yer narrative.

No offense, but this is a horrible take. Please, VN, I urge you — do not go to this place!

Turning on Pruitt is (a) not justified at this point and (b) completely counterproductive.

Learn from the past. Do not do the same thing to Pruitt that this fan base did to Butch (i.e. undermine his ability to do his job by promoting a pervasive narrative that he is not capable).

I’m impatient and want to see somebody announced (and will joke about it on here), but let Pruitt take his time, and support/hope for the best for whoever it ends up being. It’s all irrelevant until August 31 anyway.

Calm down. I haven't turned on Pruitt. And me being concerned about his OC search won't have any bearing on his success or failure.

Right now you could squeeze their faces into a frying pan and all that oil would fry up some chicken.

I'm not saying it has been an efficient search or that we should feel great about it. But we have a rookie HC facing a steep learning curve who's feeling his way. He made a mistake with his first OC, got bailed out and needs to get it right the second time. His offensive philosophy seems to be shifting-- and that's a good thing. He needs to figure out what he wants before he can hire the right guy to execute it. And to be the right guy, the new guy needs to integrate seamlessly into an established staff without being Shooped.

And yeah, when you hire a coordinator as a first-time HC at a program like UT, there's going to be growing pains. And when you throw him into the deep end of a rebuild....

I guess some of my frustration is that the timing of a hire does not guarantee it’s a good or bad hire.

So while we’re sitting around waiting for Pruitt to decide what he wants, it does not guarantee he’ll make a good hire. Just like hiring a day into the search doesn’t guarantee it’s a good hire.

But what it does is allow the candidate pool to dwindle. And that could end up being a problem at the end of this thing.
