Honest question. Have we reached the point of worrying about Pruitt’s ability to hire an offensive staff? When you look at this defensive staff, it’s elite because that’s what he knows. Just curious what y’all think. I’m kinda torn on it as I think it through.
No, I think the offensive staff is very good. Just needs the right OC to bring it all together.

I understand taking your time, but 40 days so far is over the top. 40 days and we don't even seem to be in on anyone.

Another great DL prospect is missing from this class. Moore makes it a quality finish and a well-rounded class.
i think everyone would agree that the DL recruiting is lacking that bonfied difference maker. unless Bogle were to change his mind, and i dont' see that happening, Moore is probably the best one available, and if we get him, i'd feel.............better.

i think Russell is underrated as a LB, and could turn in to a good player.

Wright is just a massive get.

Robinson is a tad small, height wise,, but he's tough and isn't scared of competition....he'd be a great addition to the DB room imo.

the WR, i mean, i get it. but i wouldn't be opposed to using that last scholly on another DE or LB, even a project player, just because of depth.

To'oto'o is the only other prospect on the board that could really give this class some umph. he's visiting next weekend. so while i think Bama is the ultimate destination, he hasn't signed yet, so hope we pull out all the stops for Henry. if you could wind up adding him to our class, with most of what HIR listed, would be an excellent way to close this class out.

Well, we have signing day coming up. Not a game, but still pretty important. If I'm trying to sell Haselwood, Pickens, et al, might be nice to be able to sell my new offense.

Hasn't affected the class. Got a '20 QB commit without one. Got the best RB in the state without one. Stop worrying.

No need. The problem is your assuming that making a quick hire is making the right hire then drawing the conclusion that a head coach that doesn't make a quick hire is not capable of being a coach. Let's just say I disagree.
Not saying that at all. But we let yurcich get away...maybe we could’ve done more maybe not. Pruitt is getting blind faith and the benefit of the doubt which is fine but let’s not pretend that all is fine and this is all part of the Plan.

Definitely not disagreeing. Don’t know if he transcends the level of the conference he works in tho. He’ll have more talent to work with than at Washington State, but Ohio State had no issues in that department and they had some slippages along the way. That more on Schiano?
Has to be on Schiano, right? It’s been his baby for a bit. I wouldn’t blame it on the assistants assistant..

All that is fine, but we're almost out of the dead period and we're still looking for an OC. Considering they've basically known Helton was leaving since November, I find that a bit inexcusable.

I agree with OrangeParm: hard not to feel like maybe he wasn't ready for the job.

No offense, but this is a horrible take. Please, VN, I urge you — do not go to this place!

Turning on Pruitt is (a) not justified at this point and (b) completely counterproductive.

Learn from the past. Do not do the same thing to Pruitt that this fan base did to Butch (i.e. undermine his ability to do his job by promoting a pervasive narrative that he is not capable).

I’m impatient and want to see somebody announced (and will joke about it on here), but let Pruitt take his time, and support/hope for the best for whoever it ends up being. It’s all irrelevant until August 31 anyway.

I'd pass on a WR reach, that's for sure. Would rather have that spot on defense, especially if it is of the "sleeper" variety.

Once again your saying things that aren't true. How did we let him get away? He chose Ohio st over us to go home. So we tried and did all we could. Nothing you can do about that.

I'm an optimistic guy by nature, but this is a red flag that's a bit difficult to ignore.
it just won't matter if it's a good hire. we just had people on this board lauding the DC hire OU just made, and they had that open for 3 months.

no reason it can't be the same here. the only way this "process" is bad, is if it leads to a bad result. i for one have to believe that with all the talking and vetting they've done the last 6 weeks, they have to have a pretty good idea of what they are looking for, and are doing their best to not settle.

doesn't mean they weren't thrown a curve ball or two, or htat it's all gone according to plan. but you have a plan, and you continue to work it, until you get what you're looking for, or as close as you can get anyway.

I'm not saying it has been an efficient search or that we should feel great about it. But we have a rookie HC facing a steep learning curve who's feeling his way. He made a mistake with his first OC, got bailed out and needs to get it right the second time. His offensive philosophy seems to be shifting-- and that's a good thing. He needs to figure out what he wants before he can hire the right guy to execute it. And to be the right guy, the new guy needs to integrate seamlessly into an established staff without being Shooped.

And yeah, when you hire a coordinator as a first-time HC at a program like UT, there's going to be growing pains. And when you throw him into the deep end of a rebuild....

We were in negotiations with yurcich. You know he’s interested in Ohio state...maybe we could’be sweetened our deal to him. I said maybe we could’ve or not but we entered negotiations with him and struck out. Either way you’re 0-1 from that regard.
