New TFP beat writer.

This guy needs to learn that the name is precisely what matters over those 8 months.

You’re a sportswriter on a beat with an 8 month offseason. You’re not doing your job if youre trying to compress your stories into that 4 month window.

It’s true. Even guys like carol and bellicheck have evolved. Be more aggressive on defense and take more risks and try for turnovers and sacks.
and its absolutely critical to have a beast at DE since that is the guy they key on, Osovet and Lebby will key on the will alot on the weakside and get a rb or slot to get behind them on a slant.. if you take away that by dropping the will or sam to cover a slot te or rb, then we got numbers and will hit u inside with a run. You're screwed if your qb can throw a 20 yard out on a dime

Talking ourselves into Lebby being a quality hire Lol

Oh my
I just don't see us stealing a known OC tbh, we hired a first time HC who hired a first time DC...

Maybe I'll be wrong, I don't hate Friend as the hire. Just feel like if that was the guy it's been a huge waste of time and money to keep the search going. Friend I believe wants to focus on being the OL coach, he makes more here than he did before as an OC with less on his plate. Why would he want to elevate & put himself on a hot seat?

Lebby is a Briles system same as Kendall, with less baggage/connection to the Baylor scandal and he likely doesn't require his own assistants...if Pruitt doesn't want any other changes in staff.

All the talking heads keep saying "fit" I honestly don't know a better fit. *shrug*

Been on the Lebby bandwagon when he first popped up though honestly, because I didn't think Yurcich or Briles we're possible.

For the record, I agree with you. Coaches will always eventually adapt to system guys.
And when Defense start loading up on small quick DLs and LBs to stop that offense...Some "genius, innovative" offensive coaches will load up on behemoth mauler OL, TEs and FBs and start running it right down everybodies throat, and running for 3-400 yards a game, while winning ToP 4-1. And nobody will be able to do a damn thing to stop it...until defenses adjust personell and scheme again...and round and round we will go..

At least that is how I see it. Really what is the difference in winning 63-45 and 23-17?

but theyv've had 25 years ... and its still spreading, offenses have finally figured out that 11 guys cannot be right defending 53 by 30 square yards.. one guy responsible for over 50 sq yds with guys zooming thru their area at full speed. If you can execute, you will get first downs
Ahhh...the old bugaboo...Execution..

This is required reading and not to be overlooked. I never believed Yurcich or Briles were possible either. Yurcich took a demotion with less money for goodness sakes in hopes of something better. But good for him if that’s his goal. Doesn’t feel like we are in a position to be snatching known commodities yet.

Speculation purely here on my part...OSU assistants are heavily targeted. Urban leaves, OC is elevated. Cincinnati coach is a former co-DC at OSU. People have assumed it's Gundy controlling OK State offense.

Same goes for the defense. If they execute, you won't get first downs. College football is less about scheme and more about the players. Execution has always been key in this game.

But still, it's my preference we have a guy that understands multiple types of offenses and runs the best fit for his players. Not someone who beats his head into a wall trying to make a square peg fit into a round hole. Keeping the defense guessing gives the offense a significant advantage.

But honestly at this point, I'm so frustrated with this program that I don't expect anything more than mediocrity and pray that I am pleasantly surprised.
