But he’s called plays. NAIA level...but experience. No matter how sexy the hire, RESULTS are the final determinant on Pruitt.
He came to Orlando after one season as offensive coordinator at Southeastern University in Lakeland. Lebby helped lead Southeastern to a 5-0 conference mark and a berth in the NAIA playoffs last season. Southeastern had the No. 1 scoring offense and the No. 3 total offense in the NAIA in 2017. -from his bio at UCF

And when you learn about Southeastern's offense the year prior, AND post, him being there, it makes it all that more impressive.

I felt a little like a salesman typing that but didnt realize until you said it. Thing is, I believe in this product, seeing as how its set so many darn records and all
Then what is the downside? Long term..DCs figure this out like they always, and then your screwed because you are anchored to a dead system?

I think his lack of experience led to Pruitt's lack of trust. I believe having been there and have done something counts for something. If you've seen it before and called a play that worked against it, you probably are going to be more successful against it. I think experience is huge when it comes to being a successful OC in the SEC.

The alternative is just to keep hiring guys until you discover one that "has it".

Wholeheartedly disagree. There have been a multitude of less experienced OCs in the SEC that have been wildly successful.

it also depends on whether or not you believe that to be the case. that's not to say i think it's gone swimmingly mind you. but i don't think we've had any issues talking to people. by all accounts, we've spoken probably a dozen, or more, folks about this job. and there's not been any evidence to suggest that we've offered the job to anyone, except maybe Yurcich, and we got kiffin'd when his dream job came up at the 11th hour apparently.

past that......if yurcich, briles is the pond you're fishing in, Lebby makes sense. he might be the 2nd or 3rd choice of htose three, but he's in that same group of offensive minded coaches.
Fit, to me, is the only thing that matters. Whoever we hire needs to be able to work with Friend and Pruitt. That’s it.

We’re going to recruit well enough regardless. It’s all about getting everyone moving in the same direction.

I still think Pruitt will hire someone he has some kind of connection with. I don't see Tee coming here. Outside of his recruiting, is there really that much of a benefit from him coaching here? Personally, I want an OC that is good at what he does. I think his recruiting ability should absolutely be secondary although I have read/heard that recruiting will play a role in this hire. Just think this program needs wins, now.

Hot take: Saban is retiring after the championship game. That’s why no OC has been named. He’s told a couple of coaches; explains Key going to GT. Enos to UT, thus the secrecy.
Hotter take and devil’s advocate… Pruitt is one of the ones who knows, and knows he will have the inside track to replace Saban, therefore, he is not in a hurry to hire an OC. To all of that I say, please no!

Quit reading after the 7th word 😎 I kid I kid, thank you sir! I am very sorry to hear that about your wife but yes I am trying to stay positive and it is a challenge. She has been at MD Anderson since May and so far her progress has been very good so I am hopeful! Unfortunately, it is an extremely aggressive rare cancer and her odds are 50/50 at best which always weighs on the back of your mind
Wish I had gotten my wife into MD Anderson. They’re up there with the Ketterings in this field. 50/50’s damn good...go with the good 50!

you really believe that the field wont be 53 yards wide someday? that offenses wont use hurry up to take advantage of a defense that is not set? That it is not logical to force a defense to spread out so you can get your playmakers to open grass?

Think about how scary things would get if Lebby and Osovet sat around for a year and meshed their concepts together, both record setting guys who put their offenses in the top 5 in the country consistently.

You dont do that sh!t on accident brothers. There are some great defensive coordinators out there that know their football too. So why are they making them look like fools? Because the spacing is such that 11 guys cant defend 53 yards wide when stretched 30 yards deep!

Its science!

You better have the right QB or hope he never has a bad day throwing the ball.

Take your head out of the horse's ass...slowly now...

Forgive me if too personal to ask, but I’m curious ab what you do for a living that puts you in Thailand?

I’m a Christian missionary.
Don't let his humbleness fool you.
Thailand recruiting coordinator for UT and possible CIA operative.
Keep it between us.

Lol

I was going to mix in some assassin lines in there, but folks be watching and you never know what gets taken seriously. I certainly don’t need to draw attention to myself

Pruitt's not going to win the coaching search, no matter who he selects. So he might as well choose the guy he wants and tune out the noise. That's what he does. He'll be talking to people in San Antonio, so it's not done.
Bingo..that's what I said last night.
