So, about that OC position.... (Merged)

I’m not gonna look through the 20,000 different OC threads. I just need a run down on who’s out as of rn

Per Hubbs, Freeze was wanted but turned down by higher powers. Yurchic picked someone else. Pruitt didn't want Briles or the QB coach from UCF that is related to Briles. Search hit a reset. Canada is now out of the potential new pool. Not sure on who's end it fell through. Sark still in running. Hubbs seemed unsure of who else might be being looked at but seemed to think that we'd hire someone soon either way.

If what LWS is saying is true then it seems Pruitt is in over his head and we are dealing with Lyle 2.0.
Seems he’s so dead set on running his 90s offense that he only wants an OC that will do what he wants and nothing else.
The fact that every, open up the offense, type OC has been talked to and immediately moved on from tells me we will be a team of few wins the next few years. This Power Run prostyle O has been played out and even Saban has realized, even with superior talent, that it won’t get you to the top. Is with far inferior talent will be doomed except for the couple games a year where we match up against poor run stopping Ds.

And the exact reasons I say he’s looking like Lyle 2.0 is that he seems so dead set on doing things his way he is willing to sink the program to unbelievable depths. He wants things his way or you can hit the highway. He also refuses to hire anyone that may bring new, fresh ideas to the staff. He just wants a bunch of people who think and do things like he does and he doesn’t care if Tennessee becomes the worst team in the country.

Pruitt is not Butch 2.0 because he has a specialty - we for sure have a guru on one side of the ball. It may take him a few years to figure out all the head coach stuff but he'll probably be worth the wait.

Apparently war room has tee Martin and Jeff Lebby chatter
We're screwed, if Tee Martin comes to be true we will then know who was in control of this search and Fulmer should start planning his exit strategy. Tee Martin would be a disaster here, if he couldn't do it at USC with all that talent how in the hell is he going to do it with this sh!t roster?

If that's the case then why wouldn't he just have hired Friend?

I don't believe that CJP is averse to new ideas. I think Freeze was his first choice and it got nixed, probably by Fulmer.

Yeah we are sunk so bad. Shame on Pruitt for focusing on recruiting which really matters.....

If Pruitt is being told who he can and cannot hire now I am sure he realizes he has made a big mistake in choosing his first head coaching position.

Not that those that love misery care but here is what was actually said.
Spoiler alert: "co-oc" means title and money for excellent recruiting abilities.
Elsewhere, Tennessee and Tee Martin have had conversations but it’s unclear what that role would entail or how serious those conversations have been. One source told Volquest that it could feature a co-offensive coordinator title. Martin is also in play at Louisville as the wide receivers coach. Georgia Tech is a potential landing spot for Martin as well.
