Having the same championship game year after year after year is not a good way to go about it, either. But, the NCAA gets what they want.

IMO and maybe I’m old school, but I view college football on a regional scale. The Natty is just a novelty unlike the Super Bowl which is a limited # of professional teams all dealing to make it to that game.

To me, the conference championship is the prize and should always be. There are too many teams. Playoffs are watering it down. I enjoyed the games even if they were blowouts but we would get those with bowl season anyway.

I just don’t like these playoffs. It’s incongruent.

Agree. But you also have to consider who rice QBs were.
Rice started putting up arcade numbers in his second season, when 86 catches were an astounding achievement. Montana missed 10 games that season due to that back injury, and Steve Young was in Tampa Bay. Ever CONSIDER who JEFF KEMP was?

The lack of ticket interest may also be due to Santa Clara being a college football desert. Nearby Stanford almost never has big crowds for home games, and the PAC-12 Championship Game in that stadium only drew 35,000 this year.
Agree, if this game is anywhere in the southeast it would have already been sold out. Huge mistake having it in Cali

Ticket prices are ridiculous anyway for a family of 4 to watch a game at Neyland you’ll be laying grand. Then it’s an all day event. Why do that when you can have friends over and play 100$ for all the pizza and beer you can drink and watch other games too?

Double that when you come in from out of town. Our boys are 8 and 11, so we always stay close to the stadium to walk ans not worry about parking and traffic. Hotel price gouging at its best on game weekends!😬

SIAP...

Between this and the massive ratings drop I’d say college football is not meant for playoffs. I’ll be glad when it’s changed. More games is not the answer.

I think it’s not meant for everyone to be interested in watching Bama and Clemson play repeatedly.

It’s definitely due to location. California is expensive. You literally have to have money to make it to this game and be able to stay the night, book flights, pay for food, etc. Easily $1,000 for 2 people just to get a hotel and eat, not including flight and game ticket costs. That is just out of reach for a normal person. I’d say the cost to go to that game would be roughly 3k for 2 people for just one night.

I don’t doubt that, but I really wonder if Bama fans are even bored of this by now.

with the time that this OC search is taking, people will be expecting a good hire....a homerun hire. Anything less would be total meltdown for the fan base. I don't know what the thought process was...the optics don't look very good.

I think it's more about the fit with coach. Doesn't matter who the OC is if they are not on the same page. I'm not too concerned about home run hires.

As long as we win games who cares how long it takes or the optics of it. Dunno why you would put all of your eggs in a basket when there is only a small playing field when you could wait until the playing field opens up like it just did this week.
