I looked back at our top ranked recruiting classes. I know that I don't have to tell you all this, but to say that this team lacks talent is an understatement. Looking back at the two top ranked classes it is crazy the attrition and the lack of impact these we can see there.

.
Is anyone suggesting that our roster is robust with talent?

i've been saying this since last summer. the 15 class in particular should have been our veterans on this year's team. 2/3 of that class never even made it to the 2018 season and only 2 left for the NFL. 2 retired all together. the rest just went away for whatever reason. one of the remaining kids of that class is our long snapper.

the "talent" on this year's team was vastly overrated by many....and all those analysts that said our roster was not good, were a lot closer to being right than any of us wanted to admit.
I was one. I thought we had a lot of talent. I was very wrong. The vast majority of talent on this team has come from the 2018 class and the 2019 being added to it hopefully are hits by Pruitt and are real factors. It's crazy how many misses intern Jones had as well as how many transfers of people who didn't want to play for him.

Not sure your point? I'm not arguing with anyone. Just pointing out how bare the cupboard is. I thought Cubelic was crazy when he said pre-season that this was one of the worst rosters in the SEC. He was not wrong.

Just wondering why the long, in depth post on something just about everyone already knew. I guess I misunderstood your point.

yep. and when you figure in the 16 and 17 classes, you do start to wonder just how long of a rebuild will this be.

this team is going to get younger before it gets better. the 19 and 20 classess are going to be huge for pruitt's years 3 and 4.

so frustrating watching all those folks prop up the "we averaged 13th ranked classes the last 5 years, we don't have talent issues".

so lazy (not aimed at you). the roster has been so mis managed and under developed the last 4 years....really frustrating.

can't wait till 2021 lol.

2014 ranked 7th nationally

Josh Malone: great 3rd year, gone now
Jalen Hurd: great player, but transfer
TK: battled injuries, serviceable player.
Dillion Bates: Non Factor
Dwayne Hendrix: Transfer, never factored
Derrell Scott: Transfer, never factored
Von Pearson: good player here, now plays for Memphis Express
Cortez McDowell: decent contributor, not elite
Daneil Helm: Transfer, non factor
Derek Barnett: Elite, drafted.
Dontavious Blair: Non Factor
D'andre Payne: transfer, Non Factor
Gavin Bryant: decent contributor
Chris Weathered: Non Factor
Evan Berry: Great KR, non factor on defense
Charles Mosley: Non Factor
Ethan Wolf: Good player, starter

Gaulden: Starter, great player, drafted

Vic Wharton: Transfer, non factor
Jashon Robertson: good player, starter
Dimarya Mixon: transfer, non factor

Neiko Creamer: Transfer, non factor
Jakob Johnson: Non factor
Elliot Berry: Non factor
Ray Raulerson: Non Factor
Emmanuel Mosley: good player, starter
Owen Williams: good player, starter, now plays for Memphis Express
Aaron Medley: good player.

Of 32 players in the 2014 class, 14 players contributed here. None are on the roster currently. A staggering 17 players were a non factor.

2015 ranked 4th nationally.

Kmac: Average player: drafted and changed to OL
Kyle Phillips: good player, battled injuries.
Kamara: elite player: drafted
Preston Williams: Transfer, non factor
Shy Tuttle: Good player, starter
Drew Richmond: average but starter
Jack Jones: Medically retired, non factor
DK: battled injuries but good player
JJ: good player
Quarte Sapp: decent contributor, mostly non factor
Micah Abernathy: good player, starter
Sheriron Jones: transfer, non factor
Justin Martin: average player
Andrew Butcher: transfer, non factor
Quinton Dormady: bad player for half a season, transferred

Darrell Miller: transfer, non factor
Vincent Perry: transfer, non factor
Jocquez Bruce: transfer, non factor
Tommy Townsend: transfer, non factor
Joe Young, medically retired, non factor
Riley lovingood: good player
Zach Stewart: never enrolled, non factor

Out of 30 players, 14 players contributed. Again, a staggering 16 are non factors.

These were our two best classes on paper and out of 62 players, 33 never factored here. That's incredible.

Won't list the names, but in the 2016 class, 12 out of 22 players have been non factors. In the 2017 class, 15 out of 27 players have yet to be a factor here. That is 22 out of the 49 players taken in the previous two classes who, so far, have been complete non factors. Where is the talent? I admit it, I thought we had more talent than we do, but clearly, the cupboard is bare. This signing class is very, very important.

The talk about Mehlen had me thinking about our talent and if he would have done better here so I went and looked. It's worse than I realized, that's why I posted it. So no, he would not have done better. Its conceivable that we could've gone 3-9 this year. Craziness.

We have made strides towards improving the talent level this year though................and on the Oline which is something we desperately need.

It’s also a question that has no real answer and so many components going into it.

We just saw Oklahoma state, Baylor, Iowa, and Virginia beat teams we couldn’t or didn’t and i don’t think anyone could really say that they were that much more if at all more talented than us.

I wouldn't classify it as "a lot of talent." But we had talent to go 6-6, maybe 7-5. I saw Butch Jones go 5-7 with far less talent and play at Oregon, so that was my comparison.

I thought offensive gameplans were not good in a few games. It doesn't mean I want Pruitt fired. I think he's a good coach. Just disappointed we couldn't beat Vandy after beating Auburn and UK.

Again tho, lot to say for development. There hasn't been any here until Pruitt and company arrived.

Genuine question, without insults...

Are you actually aware that that Miss State team (#1) best wins were against 3 five loss teams? They also went 10-3.

For context, Kentucky went 10-3 this season and had a much better win against Florida. Would you say they were deserving of being #1 this year? Probably 20 teams fit the same mold, every year.
