Bass. I understand you have this weird obsession with Mullen, but having players declare for the draft doesn't necessarily speak to their talent level in this day and age. I mean, I agree UF had more talent than we did this year, but it wasn't leaps and bounds better. Mullen is a good coach.
After the draft is over we'll return to this conversation and compare the talent level...

the only reason people think I have a weird obsession like you stated here, is because people on here will defend Mullen's honor to their dying breath while crapping on everything about the UT program. But sure, it's me that has the "weird" obsession. Mullen is a good coach. Not great.

Has anyone made a run at Jeff Scott? Currently making $850K.. If its true that CJP is looking for a great recruiter as OC, he'd certainly fit the bill.

A coach who can take Mississippi State to a #1 ranking and especially after 4 years of Sylvester Croom, deserves to get more credit that "a good coach" IMO

so dramatic. When you had people on this board saying he wasn’t good enough for UT and he was a meh coach in the offseason (and still saying it), how do you expect people to respond after coming off a top 10 season? Why do you exaggerate when anyone has an opposite opinion than you?

I think it’s funny how everyone uses Doug Matthews, Houston Kress, the kid that washed Fulmer’s golf balls during the ‘98 championship season or fetched his Krispy Kreme doughnuts as factual reporters. I can fully believe that Pruitt is being slow played like a sucker probably due to his gruff interactions in the past at Alabama and Georgia. If he promotes someone on staff he’s going to look like an idiot because he’s kept the fan base and media at bay for what—to say “oh damn people I just decided Will Friend was the answer at OC.” Bullcrap. If he screws this up that’s not going to look good for him going forward. I’m not saying fire him, but it’s a big strike.

Matthews statement about it being 95% done is crap. He doesn’t know anything. I trust 24/7 and the Rivals guys. The hell with all the offensive style and if he and Pruitt will go golfing and hold hands. You hire a guy that can put up points and yards. I don’t blame Yurcich for going to Ohio State..anyone else with a brain would go to Ohio State. We are short on talent here...what OC wants to come to get fired after one year? You have a crap line with a few decent backs and receivers that can’t run by anyone. You are almost going to have to overpay. It’s easy when your Yurcich—your from there and Ohio State is loaded with talent. If I’m Pruitt and he can get an OC and the hold up is bringing another staffer you make the move. Why should anyone on the staff be untouchable?
Wouldn't you want your coaching staff to have a functional relationship?

You're exactly right. Some are obsessed with uplifting other programs, leagues, conferences....just to make sure they don't get disappointed. Then they want to make sure no other Tennessee fans get too excited. They actually think they are protecting us from being disappointed.

yeah, i don't think Mullen is near as "meh" as some others do. it was always a questin though of whether or not he could be the guy that could take a florida, or tennessee for that matter, from an 8-9 win team to an 11 win team.

i think everyone agrees that he should win more games at Florida...but is that Mullen benefiting from Florida or Florida benefiting from Mullen???

i think FL had more talent than most of us (self included) thought. especially on defense. and they had a really good year for a year 1. two different situaitons obviously. i think it's noteworthy that this many kids are leaving early though. he won't get the same luxury Kirby got in Year 2 with all that talent sticking around.

but just like Pruitt, you wont' really know until a couple years in.

assuming he doesn't leave FL after 1 year for the nfl that is.............lol. god that'd be funny.

He was in his 6th year when they were ranked #1. I know everyone has an opinion on Mullen, and they will all be different. I am just not sure he is a championship level coach. He has to prove it.

His best win that season was over an 8-4 LSU team. Color me impressed.
Context of doing that with a Mississippi State team who also beat Auburn when they were riding high and ranked #2 and also against Texas A&M when they were ranked #6. Dont think you understand just how terrible that program was before he got there. The fact that they were even mentioned to be in the top 10 at any point was a damn miracle.

Ok, in his first year at florida, he took a 4-7 team and won 10 games with them. He also made Felipe Franks look like a halfway decent quarterback, which is in itself a work of genius.
