That's a good stat. Perhaps the leopard has changed his spots? I'm judging based on what we saw when he was here, and especially the debacle of 2012. He was anything but ball control while he was here.
His biggest positive is that Sam Pittman goes where he goesChaney has a lot of positive s
Flexes to scheme and head coach (fit)
Has explosive offenses. Even at UT
Can be power run when needed or wanted - AR and UGA
Is generally known to be easy to get along with and funny. Important for chemistry and long working days
Good with QB's
Generally sticks for several years where ever he goes
Knows UT and SEC
My (likely unpopular) opinion of Chaney: Brilliant offensive mind, schemer, and developer of talent.... mediocre to poor play caller.
His play calling was maddening during the Dooley era. We had a very explosive offense. We could score points. But, his play calling just wasn't conducive to complementary (winning) football. Our D was so bad. But we had so many drives that went 1st down: Chuck it deep, 2nd Down: Chuck it deep, 3rd Down: Chuck it deep, 4th Down: Punt. Our Swiss Cheese Sal D needed a rest and to be off the field as much as possible in order to win games. We had good running backs. But we were a pass first offense with hardly any rhythm.
His play calling style -- which is very very aggressive -- could hardly be considered a good match for Pruitt's ball control personality.
Embrace Will Friend, all of these “misses” are preparing you for the inevitable. It’s coming just like ear hair and constipation
It's difficult to "miss" on someone you never offered. It appears that Jurich has a formal offer, but we will probably never know how many others received formal offers from UT, if any. To assume that there are multiple "misses" is simply talking out of your backside.
i think there's only 3 things you can say somewhat definitively about this search so farIt's difficult to "miss" on someone you never offered. yeah, if we were further along in our "development" as a program, i'm not sure i'd view hiring him as a step forward.Never been his biggest fan, but I liken it to the Barnes hire. We were bleeding then...and now?
