Kerwin Bell? I do like that he played a long time since 1988...albeit in the CFL mostly but built his coaching career from the bottom up. Major Applewhite’s coaching career irks me because it seems like he was force fed into pretty good jobs solely based on him being a plucky fan favorite as a player.
Not an Applewhite fan either.

If I understand your position correctly..you think he got tired of trying to motivate guys on this roster and moved on? Do you think that he found it was futile to keep bashing his head on that wall of indifference and started looking forward to next year and getting some guys willing to do it his way?
I think his position is that it's not completely the fault of either side. Both deserve blame. Pruitt wasn't perfect but everyone believes he will be a good coach. Just a tough situation for a 1st year coach. And yea hank. I know I took the words right outta yer mouth.

I'm going to watch a couple of movies. I would ask someone to tag me if something big happens, but knowing you morans as I do, I know that you all would tag me 847 times for no reason at all. Carry on. It's Kitchens til it ain't.

It ain't Kitchens, @drvenner.

I think I'm gonna check out for awhile today, if I don't see you guys later, then Happy New Year VolNation! Even you @chavisut 😉

I know we all hope this year is better than last for us Vols, we have been saying that every New Year for a long time...maybe this year our hopes will start coming true finally.

@drvenner Update: nothing has changed as of yet. Standby for updates.

IIRC this is a big course change for you, what changed your mind?
I'm teachable. My original position is that I didn't want him because he's been bad in Atlanta. Admittedly, I don't watch the falcons very much and was just parroting what everyone around me says (I live in Atlanta). They wanted him gone. I also remembered the Bama fans complaining about him after they lost to Clemson.

But the guys on here told me about his numbers with the falcons, which are actually very good in spite of his OL being injured and terrible and losing his starting RB. They also pointed to the points he put up as an OC at Washington and USC.

So he's a lot better than I realized. I also think he checks a lot of boxes. He has experience at a high level and so I feel that he is someone that Pruitt could trust to basically be the head coach of the offense. He's someone with enough experience who could probably put his foot down as well, if necessary. I think Pruitt needs someone like that. He's also someone with HC experience who could help Pruitt in many areas. He's also known to be a very good recruiter. So for these reasons I think he would be an excellent hire.

While I like the idea of Yurcich if he indeed came here and was allowed to do his thing, I think that a lot can be said for simply hiring a guy with experience who you can trust to run the show. That's exactly what Kirby did with Cheney. Cheney isn't one of the young up and coming, high flying offense guys. He's just a good play caller with a lot of experience. Sark could be a better version of Cheney here.
