We have small players and have for some time.

All part of Botch's brilliant scheme to finesse his way through a line of scrimmage league. Yeah that worked out great. Cincy south..

Ya, I was gonna say it's even more maddening when you stop to consider that this was all largely done on purpose.

Yeah i remember them talking about how he was going for smaller quicker guys. He got smaller guys alright, and they're not that quick. It's unbelievable that they paid that guy what they did, owe him what they owe him and he was that shatty of a coach. Joke is on those in charge once again. Every time you thought they couldn't possibly make a more stupid move they said "Hold my beer"..

What was 2015 then? Bama said we were the fastest team they had played and we had a late 4th quarter lead in Tuscaloosa. If we had a better kicker or had punted on those long missed field goals we would have won.

I hate Butch as much as the next person but if he had kept the S&C coach from 2015 we would have been fine with smaller quicker players. Our 2015 team was a few bad play calls away from being undefeated

We were a good 5 pounds lighter in the OL than everyone in the SEC except for Arkansas and they were still bigger. Thanks Butch, Dooley, Hamilton, Booger Picker and the radical feminist Chancellor from the west coast (forget her name).
Most of the people you listed didn't know enough about the Foosball to even be clueless...

I'll say it again. He owes about two years of salary to Josh Dobbs or he'd of been gone after year 3.. He lucked into Dobbs. Oline was just as pathetic in those years as it is now.

When you rush the ball as well as we did in 15 and 16, the oline is far from pathetic. Wouldn't call them great, but far from pathetic.

Going from a spread, heavy read option attack with a true running qb, to spread read option with a not so talented running qb ( in 17 ), was a grave mistake by CBJ. And, it didn't help that he never got the throw game going with any real consistency during his whole tenure.

Morris coming in at 306 and Wright 311 if he signs with us. Richmond 316 wonder when he is going to act like it. Carvin 303 should bulk up at least 10 would be 313. Johnson played a lot at center 302 was a key person that didn't block very well. Chance Hall is 328. Then you get to guys like Tatum 293, Brooks 292, J Johnson 285, Niehaus who struggled 287. A lot of guys need to bulk up but the line still would seem to be much better if we get Wright and Morris on the line. Carvin to bulk up and hopefully Richmond to play like a big man.

Disagree. Jones got a break with Dobbs who made his "scheme" look much better than it was. The OL was never good after the first one... that reportedly just refused to do it Jones' way.

Jones came in with a plan to change the SEC. He was going to show how brilliant he was. He literally thought he was smarter than everyone else. The plan failed. It was already failing by year 2 and most refused to see it.

I can actually respect him being bold and taking a big swing at it... but it failed badly and the people responsible for protecting the program let him continue 2 years after they should have.

The same can be said when the Vols played Memphis in basketball. We forget just how big our team is but seeing them in person on the floor with the Memphis kids it was comical actually. The Vols looked like NFL players next to a Jr. High team...

This is exactly why Lyle couldn’t win even though he was getting higher ranked players. He was recruiting small fast and shifty players to play against a league that is big fast and agile. There’s a reason we could go into bowl games against the b1g and dominate but couldn’t win against lesser teams in our own conference.

The spread can work in the SEC but you need to build it with SEC players, not small fast and shifty players. Those players work well In the big 10 n 12 and maybe even the PAC but those gimmicky plays and small players won’t do it in the SEC. A 5’8” cb may be able to easily keep up with a 6’2” wr but he isn’t gonna our jump him and once the wr has the ball will easily shove the smaller faster guy to the ground and continue on, which we all seen way too many times.

Ton of size threads last day or so. Did you guys not realize before how small our oline is?

I must admit this was my thought as well. We seem to be discussing this as though we just figured this out. And when Trey and Kennedy went down we REALLY got small...oh well...
