Well that’s def not Yurcich so that would be DM being way off.
Either Matthews has been lying the whole time, or originally he thought it was Freeze then just decided to double down on the “it’s done” narrative so he wouldn’t look wrong.

I’m going with #1.

Hey guys,

I know some new reports have surfaced about Oklahoma State OC Mike Yurcich and Tennessee, but we have no reason to back off our reporting from a few weeks ago. There was serious mutual interest between the two sides at that point, but things ultimately didn’t work out.

We’ve been told Yurcich really isn’t in play for Tennessee at the moment. Doesn’t mean things can’t change, but there’s been no recent developments to change our original reporting on the matter. Right now Yurcich doesn’t seem to be an option for the Vols.

Pruitt still isn’t panicking and isn’t in a rush.

No, I thought we had to get a really good coach that could recruit really well quickly. Even with a coach like that it was going to be harder to climb out of the hole we are in considering we were at the very bottom. And considering the discontent of boosters with the administration not willing to get a coach like that, they were going to stop giving their support. Former players like Hayesworth saying publicly the DL did not even know how to line up then after the whole coaching search fiasco saying he may have to become a Clemson fan because he could at least still wear orange.....we just seemed to be way more desperate.
Exactly.

You have every right to your opinion, and I won’t try to change it, but in this case you are wrong. Things with Yurcich were looking good at one point early in the process, then they broke down.

Any reporting that Yurcich only recently got an official offer from Tennessee is false. I can’t be any more clear than that.

Things could change. Few things are ever really final in this business. But as of late this morning, Yurcich was still not really a viable option for Tennessee.
-Rucker when someone be said he was just being a company man.
