UGA had a de facto playoff game and lost. I'm not sure why everyone thinks they should have been in. They had their shot at Bama and blew it.
I agree to an extent. The only thing that gripes me is that ND didn't have to play in a conference championship game, so not apples to apples.

I read that rule differently but could be wrong.

I read that rule to be regarding a catch or a drop which you are right the ball can move but in this case the receiver was laying out of bounds. So yea the movement wouldn't have mattered except it meant he was out of bounds

Maybe that makes some sense
Hmm possibly but since he had possession in bounds I’m not sure if that matters.

If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent) he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or in the end zone. This is also required for a player attempting to make a catch at the sideline and going to the ground out of bounds. If he loses control of the ball which then touches the ground before he regains control, it is not a catch. If he regains control inbounds prior to the ball touching the ground it is a catch.

The question would be if he lost possession and I don’t think there was enough evidence to say he did
