Uh, I tend to pay attention to any ball being played in bowl season , even if Tennessee wasn’t. Like football. So what if they were thumping their chests? Just tells me that they like watching football. Doesn’t hurt you any (I hope).

I was referring to the WV fan and what he was trying to type about them before our game. I don't mind him beating his chest for this year but lets not act like they been good for 30 years. Lol

Truth is neither of us have anything to be proud of yet. Vols have alot of questions and rebuilding to do but wv should be reloading every year to be competitive or in the hunt. IMO

Was Grier at the game? I only caught part of the game, but didn’t think he was there. I saw the WVU players upset at the loss. I felt bad for them as I think they would have won with Grier.

And those are the only two 8+ win seasons in the past decade. Nowadays an 8+ win season seems more like an anomaly than a standard. The only current standard is getting blown out by vandy annually.

Have you folks not been paying attention to the last 10-15 years? We are one of the worst Power 5 programs in the country. Like, Kansas bad. And you want to make fun of a team that finished 8-4 and beat us like a drum? He!!, we won one more game than that in the last two seasons COMBINED.

And, we are a program that constantly underachieved with even Peyton Manning playing QB. Florida anyone? Memphis? How you can rip on another school is mind boggling.

Winners focus on their own business and ignore the rest. Do you think Alabama fans give a shat about another teams bowl game?

Why don’t we become even half way legit...and then we can talk. Until then, please shut up and stop embarrassing the rest of us.

Never saw him, not on the sideline. Heard it mentioned, not much at all. They seem to give up second half. Don’t know if it had anything to do with Grier not playing.

Not only do they blow us out on a neutral field, but they also finish with a much better record. Some people here just need to let the butthurt go already. WVU is, and has been better than UT for at least a decade now.

Encore! For the most part, bowl games are just glorified scrimmages and don't carry over to the next season.

They still might have won. ‘Cuse was pretty good this year. Beat Clemson last year and should have again this year. They blew a big lead after knocking Lawerence out of the game.

This is the definition of battered vol syndrome. I thought you were a WV fan honestly, until I saw that you are in fact a vol fan. It’s all love here. I hate that we are in the state we are in ever since 08, but that doesn’t lower my expectations. We have had what 5 head coaches in the past 10 years. Any university would struggle to survive that. And we have. Why? Bc loyal fans with higher expectations, faith, and hope in the future. I honestly expect them to win every game as unrealistic as it sounds. Doesn’t make me any more frustrated than you. And you still couldn’t answer my question of why are back to back 9 win seasons unacceptable here? Bc most vol fans want more and know that given our history we should be able to compete and win every game we play. We can have back to back 10 win seasons, but shy of an sec championship, and we will not be satisfied. So you can continue your rant and narrative of accepting the past 10 years and being content with it, doesn’t change my mind. I think you will find more joy in hope for the future, instead of misery in the past.

No, what is is the definition of reality and common sense. You can’t talk ish with any credibility to and about teams that are routinely beating your arse. Imho, you shut the hell up until you actually win a game or two, when you have bragging rights again. Otherwise, you look like a blithering idiot.

Haven’t had back to back 10 win seasons since 2003 and 2004. I was a freshman in high school in 2003. I’ll be 30 in March. That’s why some of us have tempered our expectations and 8 and 9 win seasons aren’t that bad considering the norm of the past decade has been about 5. UT lost to vandy 3 times in a row which hasn’t happened in 100 years. Winning a national championship 20 years ago doesn’t change that.

And to the other poster. I don’t wallow in the past. I, too, hope for a sunnier future. But, you really missed my point...as KB so succinctly put it.

To be honest I'm on the fence with players choosing not to play in a bowl due to going into the draft. I see both sides, not wanting to get hurt for fear of hurting my chances of going in to the NFL. But then the parent in me kicks in, when you're part of a team you have an obligation to be there for the team and give them your all. It doesn't seem fair to the team members left behind looking for a bowl win.

Lmao, yes it does. If you can't pull from cherished seasons of the past, and enjoy them forever, you're doing it all wrong. I guarantee you Oklahoma still cherishes their last title in 2001. Michigan fans are proud of their last in 97. Nebraska in 96. Yeah, it matters. Hell, I am still proud of having Josh Dobbs and Co. lay the smack down on 3 B1G teams in a row, the beatdown in Bristol of VT, and some nice SEC wins in the meantime over UGA, UF, Auburn, etc.

The funny thing about WVU was that they don't have any single season they can point to and say "that one, we were the best". Heck, they don't even have a season where they can legitimately say they accomplished anything noteworthy. They're Boise State lite without the nice city and scenery, but came on here acting like they were Alabama V2.0 - it was laughable, and is even funnier after they finished 8-4 in the worst Power 5 conference.

As a volUnteeRs fAn, we CoUld lose to the kentuCKys, vandys, and wvus of the world for another 20 years straight and we're still going to have infinitely more national prestige than them, and rightfully so. I have lived all over the country and can tell you the T brand is alive and well. It's why we can pull Top 10 classes coming off 4-8 and 5-7. No one else does that. We'll have a team that matches the program again at some point. In the meantime, your beta male takes (KBvol too) will continue to entertain the rest of us. Sack up.

Get used to feeling a nostalgic sense of grief re: CFB, it's not going to get any better. Nothing stays the same and big money is the biggest motivator, these days. Why should top tier players risk a brazilian dollars when they're expected to act like adults but aren't treated as such when it comes to $$$$ playing for the ole Alma Mater. I'd thumb my nose as well watching the multi-billion dollar NCAA get fat.
