Keep in mind that Butch beat two mediocre big ten teams, badly, in bowls.

College football needs to stop pretending that the middle tier of all P5 conferences are equal. They're not. The difference between the SEC and everyone else isn't at the top but rather in the middle and even a few lower level teams (in any given season) in our conference. Most of the time, though not always, mediocre SEC teams will absolutely boat race mediocre teams from other conferences.

The fact that as a conference we dominate the top 20 in recruiting rankings (with a large portion of that being in the top 10) shows up bigly during bowl season.

Maybe but there hasn't been a single news story about him since November. There would be plenty of other names they could pull out of their ass. Who knows. But the more I found about him the more I liked him. Seems like a good coach.

Latrell, though.. In a 2017 class that was chock-full of filler guys, I had some hopes for him.
